Good news for the finances - we have a new 10 year deal with Adidas worth £900m - a world record. I wonder when the cash arrives, perhaps we can go for Mbappe and Kane.

The entire team was off, both the set up in the first half and the supposed first team playing in the second. You can argue that the concentration levels might drop off but nobody covered themselves in glory. Hopefully we'll return to better form now that they are back home.

We created chances over and over again, but we made so many bad decisions in the final third. Rashford was clear to put a shot on goal several times but failed to connect properly. Concentration overall was poor across the team.

I’m still not seeing how Mount is worthy of the No. 7. I can’t tell the difference when he’s on the pitch.

On a positive, I’m glad that we are getting good teams during the preseason to help figure out what works before the season starts.

It's pre season, it's literally practice.

From what I saw of last night's starting eleven, about two or three will start next Monday.

Which is when the proper stuff starts.

Seven is just shirt number mate. He'll be playing as an 8. A six even, with Casemiro at 8.

I just don't see the need for Mount, particularly if we bring in Amrabat, as we are already well stocked in midfield. He seems to be another one of those players that will definitely have some effect but at some cost to Bruno and Casemiro, one or other of them will be displaced by Mount's presence on the pitch, most likely Bruno, so what was the point when all that cash could have gone towards a CB and a striker.

Yeah mate, we get it. You've got an issue with Mason Mount, as yet not really fully explained.

If we sign Amrabat (we haven't yet), it means both Fred and McTominay could go.

Fernandes then can play as a genuine 10, with Mount/Casemiro/Amrabat as the other two.

Eriksen is a sub, Mainoo is a sub.

The front three are taken from the following; Rashford, Hojlund, Sancho, Antony, Garnacho, Pellistri, Martial.

Do we want a first eleven, or a squad ffs?

Come on, Chief! The point here is valid and has nothing to do with not liking Mount. Can anyone truly say that they know where Mount fits in if we get Amrabat? Even with the old midfield, I wouldn’t say Mount sets the world on fire. I’ve said that before that I didn’t see the signing adding any real value to the team that was already stoked with players in that crowded midfield. Especially when you consider Mainoo too who reminds me of Pogba of years ago.

Tbf mate there was a point this season when we were scratching around for a midfield bcos most of our midfielders were either injured or suspended.

And it happened to be just when we were getting to the business end in 4 competitions. It cost us in the end in at least one of those.

I think if we're to be challenging for silverware we need decent squad depth and the midfield is key. We can't match City's depth but if we've got at least 2 players in each position across that midfield then we're doing bloody well tbh.

I don't mind strength in numbers, who would, but I just have this nagging feeling that success for Mount will come at a cost to what we already have. In several of the friendlies so far Mount has shone, but only because he has strayed/played into the position of the likes of Bruno. If Mount scores ten but those goals come at a collective cost of fifteen from other players, then I fail to see how he adds value. My point is that we weren't deficient in midfield and the millions spent on him impacted our ability to compete for other positions (not Kane FFS). Sorry again in my personal opinion doesn't chime with the gods..

I don't think it's like that in terms of opinion. It's just that maybe it's too early to say and we should wait and see what happens when the season starts.

I think squad rotation will be important especially playing in the CL.

    <laugh>

You're basing this on a couple of pre season practice games, plus other people's opinions?

What is your own, personal experience of Mason Mount's ability?
    Honestly?

Dare I even ask, without some daft **** about being a ****ing mod, or whatever(which I'd forgotten I even was!)
