So not shown interest to the press or you then <laugh>

Ever thought the interest might just be shown to the player first to gauge reaction then to his club to open negotiations.

Do you really believe that every window all PL clubs rush off to their favourite journo and tell then who they are "interested" in.
Most links you read are click bait and easy links to put together.

It's not me saying it mate, the only club showing any real interest in Kane atm is Bayern. And he seems to be keen on them.

I honestly have no idea what you're on about. It's got fck all to do with anything I've said.

You carry on talking to yourself and making up your own arguments <laugh>

I don't even know what largely know is supposed to mean ffs.

    It means nothing.

How do you know who were in for, or not, if you don't expect an actual statement yet are supposedly not referencing media transfer gossip?

Where does your 'known' info come from? (Let me guess, the press?)

No other club is stating targets, it's just reported bids here and there. Which United have actually made, for Mount.

For the umpteenth time, why do you keep talking about the club stating targets? Or holding press conferences about targets? Or reporting targets to the press? When have I ever said that? I haven't.

We've had Levy publicly stating he's not willing to sell to another Premier league club, and that for Kane to leave means £100million +.

That doesn’t mean we've shown no interest, because we have.

It's a whole lot easier for Kane to just go to Germany as it stands. Even then, they haven't yet matched Levy's valuation.

How else do we know then, that we're not interested in anyone?

And how do we know if we are.

Oh right, the media rumour columns?

The same ones that say we are in for players, on a daily basis.

    <doh>

    Bed time.

That's it though isn't mate. We have a pig headed chairman of a club who's not willing to sell to another PL club and if you're correct we with our amazing transfer window planning are going for him?

No chance of us pissing away another transfer window on this folly.

Or could it be we've been here before, which is my whole point about another clueless transfer window... if what you're saying is correct.

The same way they've been reported for Timber, Maddison, Bellingham, McAllister and a dozen other players for BEFORE a bid has gone in. And then a bid HAS gone in.

We've not had any of that except for with Mount. Have we?????

    It's not rocket science ffs.

    Fcking hell I give up.

I believe Chief and maybe Diego held this position last year too that anything that you hear via third party is nonsense. Especially during De Jong chase. We were essentially in denial until we had completely wasted the full summer.

I don’t see how we can simply say that anything that you hear is bllocks. It’s not an accurate representation of how transfer gossips get out these days. Media or personalities are not just writing without at least trying to get some leads no matter how crummy. There are literally no transfers that command high fees happening in a vacuum without some sort of drips through the media.

So as far as I’m concerned, we are completely clueless again this summer. Kim Min Jae was strongly linked but that’s now gone. Mount is essentially the credible player on the list that I know of. Heck, we can’t even sign our own players to new deals nor sell those that are not needed and we are already close to preseason.

    Hopefully something starts happening soon.

What folly though? I don't think the club can win in the pursuit of Kane for you.

The point is, we have shown an interest.

What we haven't done, is spend the summer wasting time against a pig headed chairman.

It's been stated United won't enter an auction, so that won't actually happen. The interest is, however, clearly there and is currently a watching brief.

Not sure what more you want?

Hopefully this is concluded quickly, as I said yesterday morning it's now down to Kane to decide.
If he says one thing or the other, then it can be concluded and everyone moves on to other options.

So, we either believe the media gossip or we don't?
If we do, then as of today another four or five targets have been mentioned.

Ergo, we do actually 'know' who we're after. Because BBC gossip column collates all that info together for us!

Personally think the gossip columns are just noise (sorry to offend you cytrax, it all being true and that) but it is pretty obvious that Ten Hag has interest in making signings, that we haven't been told exactly who they are isn't really a concern as yet, more than happy to see how it all shakes down.

Common sense dictates that ETH knows what positions need strengthening and what players he would like to bring in to fill those positions. The big issue, of course, is the budget. Without player sales it appears that we only have £120 to spend in this window - and £120 million won't buy the players of the calibre we need. We must be looking at another £90m from players sales if you include Maguire, Martial, McTominay, Fred et al, plus the wages their sales free up also helps us overall when it comes to FFP.. Until we move the deadwood on we can't hope to be bidding for major talent but you would like to think there is work going on behind the scenes top keep potential deals on the back burner until we have the funds available.

Of those you mention, I wouldn't be selling Fred.

We'd only then need to replace him as well, makes no sense. He's a good squad player.

The other three can go, and we should sell them on the cheap and just get rid.

Anyway, without wishing to state the obvious, the football club is in absolute limbo while this takeover happens, or doesn't, so I don't see the point in moaning that we aren't targetting anyone, their hands are tied.

It seems the budget for the sumer is £120 million, plus money accrued from sales.

This, therefore, rules out Kane, so let's just forget about him, eh?

Hojlund instead? And get the Mount deal done. We'd have to keep De Gea, and then sell some players to maybe get in a utility defender.

Is that not ok to go forward with? I'd be cool with it, we're not spaffing money around left right and centre either.

Let’s forget about the sale of the club for now. I’m all in for the disciplined budget. Considering how much we spent last year, £120m isn’t bad given we have many players that need to be sold. Too many fat cows in that squad. But I do hope that we keep Fred and Sancho.

I’m also not necessarily in the camp of thinking that buying is a sign of progress. We have seen that if you’re not getting the absolute right player, a new addition is often underwhelming. It should also be noted that simply getting Kane may not guarantee success given the way that the midfield currently operates.

What I hope to see more of is a plan for the squad with players that are there. Giving Garnacho a starting position in more games will be an indication of progress versus just simply signing a new player, especially in that crowded midfield.
