Yes they are in **** financially, this makes it even more laughable. They have a player that they can get top money for yet you think they will hold him against his will whilst also dropping his wage (therefore breaking his contract).

I think you should be saying "we don't have the player YET".

You can try to do a deal for any player at any time, doesn't change the time when the deal can be concluded.

I never said otherwise, but clearly negotiations for players has been going on for a month not 2 weeks.

The fact that we are even referring to the transfer windows only just opening is problematic.

There is nothing in the rule book that suggests that clubs can’t not agree a deal before the windows even opens. With our predicament of knowing that the team needed purging, we should have nailed down a number of targets before the window opened. But instead, it appears that we can only operate when we have to scramble around making life more difficult for ourselves.

None of the excuses even adds up.

Does the fact that the NEW manager only met a small portion of the squad just a week ago make any difference?

Please! You really think that this is the club simply playing the waiting game because we needed Ten Hag to fully see the players physically before any decision is made? That would signify a fundamentally flawed transfer strategy.

You think a new manager is going to base his future views on performances under two **** managers for 4 years?

I would think any manager worth his salt would like to assess their ability in his system and their mentality too.

The team has been in mess the whole season. Even a dead bat would have been able to diagnose the problem areas and come up with roughly 80% plan of action without this physical examination that you speak of. lol

You think ETH has been watching United all season? He was managing elsewhere mate and had other things on his mind.
I dare say he watched a few games once he got the call but i hope he wouldn't make any decisions based on that, at that stage the team/players were a total mess and bore no resemblance to what they are capable of if played in the right position and with an actual game plan.

Quick observation for those who never noticed.

You should never play Rashford wide right, you should never play Sancho wide left, Ronaldo and Cavani don't work together they both take up the same positions.
We need a real holding mid, Fred is much better further forward and in truth Mc T is the weak link (though i did hope he would be a powerful B to B at one point).
When playing high against lesser teams Lindelof or even an aged Varane should be the deepest player never Maguire.
With Sancho at wide right there would be less need for Bissaka to get his feet in a tangle trying to dribble so he could concentrate on what he does really well (defend).
Pogba and Bruno were never going to work, they both need license to be free and move to where they see gaps (Pogba suffered from this because he was always given the more restricted role and his attitude stunk because of it)
Greenwood (if ever available again) is capable of the right wide and centre position up front but like Sancho never wide left.

We have quite a few players who are ready/almost ready to step up to first team in midfield, wide attack and defence but seem short on strikers but things can change quickly with youngsters.

EDIT..........i am only making observations on the players we have here not suggesting we can't/shouldn't improve on them, just showing that (imo) we have not made the best use of the players that we had available.

    ^^^^^^ All correct.

Which makes the idea of signing one or two players hand picked by the new manager all the more understandable.

If we don't sign these players ultimately, then it will have been a ****e window. If.

I'd say we now need to add a striker to this IF Ronaldo leaves, but Rashford and Martial will have to stand up in the meantime and, if that doesn't work, they should he scouting the world for a January window signing.

For now though, get those targets over the line.

The reason Barca ask players to take pay cuts - and the reason that many do is because the difference in salary drop is made up in payment elsewhere, to offshore account, to share purchases, property overseas. The players just get paid in an underhand way but Barca's books appear to pass Fair Play regs - exactly the same as the german press allege is what happens with City players.

Don’t you worry, boys! The negotiating team has not slept in four weeks as they work day and night on this deal.

When there is uncertainty about the player himself wanting to leave his club you would have thought the club would want to sort out a quick deal with the sellers and move on to the player. This sort of crap can only happen with us as no one else would keep the uncertainty running for weeks.

Well, if we believe the press and the likes of Romano, and we certainly seem to with the Ronaldo stuff, then de Jong and Antony are to follow, and still very much in the running for Martinez.

Get those done and move the **** on ffs.

Funny they are all from Ajax or dutch league, Shows what an absolute shambles United's scouting was as Ten Hag has just gone for players he knows.

No wonder they were all sacked.

    Plus, possibly, Eriksen.
