Hmm, not sure about that one Dai. Could just be paper talk with not much else going on at CCFC but, as with Jazz, Trollope would have had a good look at him at the Euros even though he didn't play. Only managed 31 league games in 5 years so not greatly experienced although has 7 Wales caps, mostly as a sub. Had a serious anterior cruciate injury in 2015 which kept him out for 4 months or so. Would Fulham want to loan him to us as a league rival. I would have thought it was more likely for him to go to a Div. 1 club who would also guarantee him some game time. Time will tell although not perhaps the sort of move to create much excitement. Bit of a poor man's John Williams maybe. Is he any better than what we already have in Kennedy and Harris?
He was on loan to Gillingham last season. Cannot see him as anything other than a squad player and "one for the future" Trollop should be looking to get rid of deadwood like Dikachoi, Macheda, Le F & Adeyami - unless he's seen something in Adeyami we haven't seen. Looks like genuine competition for places in the new 3-5-2 formation but still want to see a dominant central midfielder & proven striker
Unlike with Jazz, we Fulham fans would be upset if you try to take advantage of our incompetence and steal George Williams. He's young and missed quite a lot of time through injury last year so you'd be looking to get him on the cheap, but in my opinion he is definitely better off staying with us. You will however be linked with all Welsh players at other clubs because of Trollope, in the same way we were because of Symons, so hopefully this rumour is nonsense!
Nin - a proven striker currently banging them is going to cost big bucks. The cheaper alternative is one who's done the business in the past but now could be looking for a meal ticket - not sure that's the way to go either. I'm afraid Gounongbe along with Zahore could be the only ones in the frame at the start of the season, with the likes of Immers and maybe Pilks in support at the sharp end. That could still work out OK as long as Trollope's apparent preferred 3-5-2 system comes off. I agree Dikgacoi and the other "strikers" you mention just have to go, but we have a group of midfielders in Whitts, Pilks, Immers, Noone, Ralls and others who are all capable of getting on the scoresheet with the right tactics.
Or at least ALF and Macheda. Adeyemi may be worth another go. They really liked him at Birmingham and thought we nicked him on the cheap.
Leicester to loan out Tom Lawrence again. I'm not fussed. Flattered to deceive last season. Too lightweight and little end product.
Agree, prefer to see Kennedy given more of a chance. OS, appreciate strikers are gold but I would hope Trollop could find one in the lower leagues with potential or a PL surplus one on loan, but he'd have to be proven and not useless like Ameobi.
Nin - I was watching the game against St Pauli yesterday and Trollope replaced about half a dozen players in one go. I only had the German commentary so had switched off the sound and was relying on the visuals for info. I honestly didn't recognise one of the guys he brought on. He looked a fat little bugger who I thought might have been an unannounced trialist. Then I managed to catch the number 23 on his back and realised it was Kennedy playing wide on the left. He was nippy enough but he needs some serious attention from Ryland Morgans for this season - like losing about a stone for a start would help.
Trollop says he is looking for some more signings. Unsure if he has been given the green light but I do feel a couple of flair signings could turn this most solid looking squads into something quite tasty. The nagging question is whether there are enough goals in the team. Add a proven goal poacher and as I said above this squad would have realistic top 6 aspirations. As Phil Smith says in his video on ICWales, there's a lot to look forward to next Saturday!
The retoric from Trollope has always been that he's happy with what he's got, even if the fans think we need more, and only wants 1/2 additions. Defo need a striker and some pace. Russell would have already signed 4 or 5 lower league "gems" by this point!
Not someone we want to go but with a £2m release fee we can't stand in his way and that would free up capital and wages to get in the players we need - assuming there are no takers for the gang of three. Also we have good cover at full back.
