I totally agree. Villa collectively threw in the towel last year, but the season before Richards was very good indeed at Fiorentina when called upon. I see no issue at all, Kone & Kaboul will always be first choice as their understanding is superb.
Aye realistically for a club at our level we're not going to be getting anyone better than Richards for cover. If he was being heralded as our marquee signing I'd be reaching for three fingers of whisky but as backup he should be spot on.
