Even if we assume European competitions get cancelled first it’s still going to be difficult to fit 6-7 weeks of fixtures in before next season.

I just don’t see it happening.

I suppose if we ignore the well being of the players in regard to overplaying and injury they could play the remaining 13 domestic rounds in 26 days by playing every other day...

Some teams have still got 10 games to play and at least two teams will have 12-13 games. The Liverpool manager complained back in December at trying to fit too many games into small spaces and from the start of December it took 7 weeks to get 13 games in for Liverpool (their most manic part of the season and Klopp said he was opposed to it as players were liable to get injured, etc). Now that was fitting in 4 different competitions who weren't co-ordinating with each other AND the first team of Liverpool didn't play in all of those (league cup and FA cup) so only 11 games with the first team. It was actually more like 8+ weeks before their first team played 13 games.

That was the most hectic bit of the football schedule. Liverpool - correctly - complained about it. It was 4 different competitions. The idea that the FA would put together a set of domestic games intentionally in such a tight timescale just doesn't stack up I reckon. Why would teams like West Ham agree to it when it could cost them their place in the league? It reeks of "getting the job done". Even if it went ahead the teams would need a week to prepare as the restrictions being lifted will allow them to train together, they can't go into the first match after like a day.

I suspect 9 weeks is the minimum the FA would propose putting the games into.

"People tell you that it is about money and because you earn all this money you have to do it. On one side that is true but on the other it is completely wrong because we always get injuries in this period and you have to work out how to deal with it.

"We are talking about human beings, so if they get injured it is not cool.

The words of Mr Klopp this season.

It's going to affect a lot of clubs. It's gone crazy on the Aston Villa board since this Coronavirus thing kicked off...

I think that all depends on which way this all goes. Many brummy women are petitioning the PL as we speak.

Is it just me being stupid or does awarding average points per game just mean the table will finish exactly as it is now? ****’s the point in that?

It only potentially changes the places of sides who’ve played less games. In terms of the PL I think it’s only Sheff U who’d gain a place.

It’s entire purpose is to give the impression of fairness in terms of seeing the season ‘complete’.

    It’s basically bollocks.

I posted the exact same on the United board. Except one club gets the points it needs to win a title <whistle>

Oh and Sheffield United will move up to 6th. But that's it. Villa are still fcked so relegation doesn't get any different outcome as neither do the CL spots.

The reality is players who have not played or trained for 3 months would need 5 weeks to be in a position to play competitive games
If this season had not been postponed next years preseason would have been starting at the time we will be trying to restart this season

If they can all play nine games in twenty six days like Liverpool had to in '89, then playing in here June/july shouldn't be a problem.

Hardly altruistic though was it, Liverpool were chasing silverware. There is zero incentive to a club like West Ham to agree to this.

No, Liverpool were told they had to play those games because both the FA and the Football League insisted it had to be done in that timeframe to 'Finish the competitions and preserve their integrity '. True dat.
