It's special because it's the one that actually exists right now, with financial obligations.

It's a simple bet I propose, and doesn't depend on interpreting anything anyone says; the current Premier League season will be finished before the next Premier League season is started. If so you lose, except if it finishes before June 30th in which case you're let off.

No. The bet is that this season won’t be completed during what shouldn’t be the part of the next ones calendar.

As there is a remote chance they’ll extend beyond the 30th June.

What they won’t do is **** next season up, in order to finish this one.

    2020/21 is due to start Saturday 8 August. So how about just changing the date;

The current Premier League season will be finished before the next Premier League season is started. If so Tobes loses, except if it finishes before August 8th and the next Premier League starts on August 8th in which case the bet is void.

Apparently all the major European leagues would have to agree on the cut off date for the end of this season and the start of next season because of the transfer window. Makes finishing this season very problematic, some would say impossible.

Wait for the Kopites to suggest having another transfer window doesn’t matter.

    Because......something.

We changed it when we wanted.

We changed it back when we wanted.

But apparently we can't change it for a crisis

European transfer window runs through July, August to early Sept. But we’re not going to have ours until maybe November when we finish the special season, because dem red men, how the **** does that work? <laugh>

Transfer windows are by agreement of the leagues, not immutable laws of physics <ok>

If the option is forfeit £700m or change a window I know where I'm putting my money

And you do too based on your refusal to take the avatar bet

Again you ignore the fact that lost revenue from the last Qtr of this season would be balanced off if they played the remainder during the first Qtr of the next one.

And the rest of Europe isn’t likely to give a **** about the PL with its £1.5BN cash reserves losing a few quid btw.

Oh and the bet, when did I refuse?

The current season will never be completed if it’s not played out before the 8th August 2020. So if there’s 19/20 season PL games played on or after the 8th August, you win.

If the league is voided I win.

If it’s completed before the 8th August - no bet.

If the season is voided do clubs lose some/all of their TV money? Could cause some issues there as many borrow against it year by year.

I wonder if clubs might try and claim back appearance fees from players too.

Yeah they have to pay back £700m of TV revenue for games not played.

Tobes reckons it'll be alright though because the TV companies definitely won't use the deliberate breach of contract by the PL as an opportunity to renegotiate for lower fees and will just "take it on the chin".

Players haven't been paid appearance bonuses yet so nothing to get back.

Change "19/20 season" to "current season" (which might even become the 19/20/21 season) <ok>

    2 months of avatar then?

How could you possibly extend the season beyond the end of many players' contracts?

You offer them extensions and if they want to use the crisis to force a move that's on them

99.9% of the time players' contracts mean **** all to clubs and players, a virus breaks out and they're suddenly considered sacred <laugh>

Strange how a bloke who posted this before a Champions League game his team lost...

should now be having a bet to say the season's not over.

LFC's season is over, still got to determine other things though

As it stands only 3 teams have mathematically qualified for next season's Premier League

Will be a very short season if the rest of the games aren't played
