I don’t get how football can be allowed to supercede the nationwide rules of lockdown. I’m all for it as I’d watch Sunday League right now.

 

Id imagine the next steps (like they did in Germany) is to have all the staff and players stay in some hotel quarantine so whilst they are not adhering to the social distancing in games/training they have isolated for a long enough period that it is unlikely any of them have it. Throw in that they are being tested far more than the general public and they are in a much safer position than most other people in terms of contracting it.

why they are being allowed to do it is another question, probably something about money for the clubs and trying to bring back a massive past time for the average person to make the government look good.

what is amazing is that you seem to think testing has no useful purpose .

 

November 9th 2019 and a Bayern Munich team languishing in 6th in the league get cheered on to a 4-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund in front of 75000 fans. It's ok though as Dortmund have amazing home support and will get the chance to get their own back.

We've been 'Superceding' the lockdown rules on the railway since day one. I'll give you an example - what's called route conducting for drivers (I won't bore you with what that is, you can look it up if you wish). They simply got a medical officer on the DfT to allow it, with some bullshit about not being under six foot apart for more than 15 minutes, and propping the cab door open. Just one of many 'exceptions' for key workers. And as for what my daughter and my ex have had to put up with in nursing...

And anyway, if it's okay to trust your instincts and cram two Covid-infected parents in their car for 6/7 hours with their child (it officially is, according to the police), it's a bit moot to be arguing about footballers.
