So the games that Amazon or someone else would pay for are now being gifted to Sky too for free. And Amazon are supposed to still be happy to pay?

What games are you giving Sky for free then? Ones that no one else wants to pay for, to replace the CL/relegation battles they're missing out on? No deal.

Not for free, as compensation for the games they missed this season.

as a regular season ticket holder for Wiziwig I can tell you now...watching football games without a crowd present at the stadium is a bit meh anyway...very meh tbh. The crowd are very much part of the whole sensation of a game of football...for me, anyway.

Try more Saturday night prime time games, more Friday night games, midweek fixtures, whatever can be negotiated to cover the shortfall over the next season or two. It ain’t complicated nor insurmountable, but you know this.......

I prefer they won the title but only one team was good enough to smash them 3 - 0

This adding games to be televised by Sky / BT in compo doesn't really work though as they will have lost shedloads of money from cancelled subscriptions and adding a few games next season wouldn't add to the number of subscribers they get . The number of subscribers will almost certainly be less anyway due to the economic meltdown that is coming plus the fact that games will likely be without crowds and therefore not much of a draw at all .

I agree about subscribers and the appeal of behind closed doors games, but how does playing the remaining games out behind closed doors in order to fulfil the contract make it any better for them?

Potentially a big tv audience for a meaningful game so decent ad revenue. I doubt Sky are in agreement with writing off relegation.

because Sky just postponed your subs so once the football restarted my guess is the start collecting your dosh and hope you don't notice .<laugh>
Also think right now people are so bored they may well resubscribe anyway just for something to watch though the Govts plan to get some on free to air may scupper tha .

The idea of free to air only works if the Govt pick up the tab. I think behind closed doors games would have an initial appeal due as you say to the boredom factor, but that’d soon wear off imo, as they’re a truly ****e spectacle. Without relegation the amount of meaningful games would be small.

Without a vaccine or effective treatment, football is in for an extremely rocky ride. I’m not sure the reality has quite hit home for most in the game yet.

Yep fully agree that i'm not sure most outside the corridors of power (in football) realise how hard this is going to hit even PL teams as not many make decent profits and the outlook for a huge swathe of lower league clubs is incredibly dire imo .

Football without fans is nothing as far as I am concerned. Neutral grounds etc.
