''will Abram look at the Man City setup and say " i cant compete with that , im out " Whilst he's spent a sick amount of money on buying his success it still only represents a fraction of his wealth, and I also get the impression he is as stubborn as they come, had this not been the case he would have done everything to retain the services of Mourinho and winning league titles most years instead of finding the right manager to win the league and champions lge by scoring 7 every match and being compared with Barca....
Add to the mix that the Sheiks make him look like a pauper , They are having a massive investment in the city facilites but Abram cant even do what he likes with the shed.
Piskie. VDV says it wasn't handball and that is good enough for me. That and the fact that he clearly controlled it with his chest.
Well, he would say that really. Not really good enough for me. That and the fact that he clearly controlled it with his arm.
He controlled it with his chest No one on here (including me) would be saying it was handball if an Arsenal player had scored
It was very clearly a handball - go watch a replay of it - without using his arm he could never have controled the ball.
Although this squad is weaker than it should be i'm still confident we'll finish above Tottenham. I also think with Wilshere and Vermaelen back in the team we have the stronger first 11. Friedel vs Sczezney - Experince vs Youth. Sczezney will be a world beater. Sagna vs Corulka - Sagna is the best rb in the league. Vermaelen vs Gallas - Well who would swap? not a single gooner. Vermaelen is Top Class. Mertesacker vs King - I do rate King, he just edges it although we will have to see after Mertesacker settles. (he does have 77 caps for Germany at only 26yrs old) Santos vs Assou-Ekotto - both are good going forward but prone to defensive lapses. Santos though is Brazil's first choice lb and get his fair share of goals and assists. Song vs Parker - This one's debatable. Song is an experienced international and regular in the Champions league while Parker has been relegated twice! I would'nt swap. Wilshere vs Modric - Modric is a sublime footballer but Wilshere is THE most talented youngster in the Premierleague. Jack the lad will already get more assists than Modric. Arteta vs VanDerVaart - The dutchman is inconsistant but I would give it to him for his goals. Walcott vs Bale - Both Southampton graduates are quick but Walcott is quicker. He'll also score more goals and get more assists. (Bale gets too much praise, good as he is the guy needs to score more goals to really be considered a 'top' player.) Van Persie vs Adebayor - A fit rvp is arguably the berst striker in the league. 33 goals in 37 apps in 2011 says it all. (only Messi and Ronaldo have a better ratio) Gervinho vs Lennon - as with Bale Lennon's goal scoring record is poor. Gervinho on the otherhand scores goals and gets ALOT of assists.
@TheBear Koscielny for me is a starter ahead of Mert - and i'd have Kosc over almost any CB in the league.
Maybe for you but its not gonna happen. A Vermaelen & Koscielney partnership lacks balance (and height) - much like our Toure and Gallas partnership did. I think Vermaelen and Mertesacker will prove to be a quality partnership (injury's permitting). A tall old fashioned ballwinner (right footed on the right side) and a mobile ballplaying defender (left footed on the leftside) has proved to the recipe for alot of great defenses. (Pique and Puyol, Nesta and Cannavaro, Gallas and Terry etc..)
Koscielny has been one of our best players this season and i wouldn't want to bench him. I appreciate what you are saying about the style of the defenders but if the two defenders are good enough they should both play. Vermaelen is a beast and Koscielny is fantastic, Mert is a great player as well and i'm glad we have a choice of 3 very good CB's - but for me Kosc and Verm are the better two players. It is a good problem to have though!
Pretty much agree with this except I would have Kos as a partner to Vermaelen and to add to the comparison Kos>King
The replays didn't prove anything with regards to whether it hit his arm but regardless you can't say it would have been a draw had it not have counted. Why would that be? He stood in front of the crowd and they reched out to grab him, he was barely there for a second before Bale dragged him away. Never a yellow card even taking into account the ridiculous laws about celebrations. Anyway, these are old arguments, lets get up to date with new arguments. Modric or Wilshere..... <run>
Szczesny "will be a World beater"? So in other words you can't come up with a reason that he's better than Friedel at the moment? Sagna's very good but I'm not sure why you'd compare him to Corluka, who even when fit has not been picked ahead of Walker. Santos over Benny? That's just madness Song over Parker? Last seasons player of the year who has immediately shored up a pourus midfield and is getting praise from every corner. Behave yourself. Wilshere over Modric? Again you're talking about an Arsenal player being a promising youngster, that doesn't make him better than Modric. Flawed argument. I think you've got your wingers mixed up but anyway. Bale needs more goals? This season Bale has 4 in 10, Walcott has 4 in 15. Last season he scored 2 less goals than Walcott, whilst having more defensive duties as we play 442/4411 and even playing left back a few times. Again with the goals for Gervinho vs Lennon. Didn't Gervinho play as a striker at Lille? Eitherway give it to Gervinho, Lennon's been poor for awhile.
As usual knowing the rules helps: you don't get a yellow card for 'going into the crowd' only for 'climbing onto a perimeter fence' VdV didn't do that.
