The English don't have a national anthem mate, it was discussed on BBC 5 Live and Talksport why they are forced to use the British anthem at sporting events ;)

Project i read something years ago that said GSTQ is not the offical national anthem but was adopted. It was written as an anthem and sang at the end of the night in a music hall. There was mention, if i remember, that the entire cast and orchestra volunteered for the crimean war.
Every day is a school day lol.

Our beer is better full stop :D

Dill as someone who resides in the home counties I can only say that if you know where to look there are some lovely beers over here although I must admit to a liking for the odd pint of SA and Felinfoel Double Dragon - I have a real ale pub near me that has some great guest beers including Brains and other Welsh ones.

What England does miss out on is friendliness that Wales has in abundance I am trying hard to spread it on my missionary work and my wife who comes from Herts now loves a cwtch - but thats a story for another day :)

Glam you're a star, the word cwtch!! They can't compete with that, quite possibly the best word ever, or maybe it's cwrw :D

As a totally 100% Englishman, and fiercely proud of it, I have to admit I can think of 3 things that are better in Wales than in England.

In no particular order....

Male voice choirs - The Welsh are in a league of their own here.

the Cory Band - I wish they were just over the border.

The ***gots on Llanelli indoor market - quite simply the best I have ever tasted. So much so that when my brother visits my mum, he knows it is more than his life is worth not to take a tray there for me to pick up <ok>

I almost took offence then ........ I wish there was a Welsh translation for ***gots (or is it a Welsh word ?)

"Why being Welsh is better than being English"

I don't normally endorse egg chasing but my daughter who lives and works in Hertfordshire will say being able to celebrate Wales kicking the English ar$e on the rugby field while being the only Welsh person in the pub. Apparently her solo version of Land of My Fathers is a thing to behold. She's only 5 ft 2 ins and about 8 1/2 stone dripping wet but she outsings the whole place.

Good job I checked the last post before sending. nearly made a fundamental error in starting off "kicking" with an "l". Would have meant something completely different. <doh>

Found a couple of pubs in London that serve Brains beer, they were awful. Can't wait to get back to Cardiff for a descent pint.

That's because England and Britain are basically interchangeable. wales, scotland and NI are sadly irrelevant in the greater scheme of things.
