Interesting question, of the players who have left Leeds in the last 2-3 years, some of whom we were gutted about, how many would you have back (assuminmg we had to pay no more than KB got for them when they left)? Leaving aside the "f@@@ you, you left us" mentality, I still think it would be a small number we'd really want back. For me, Gradel and Snoddy, no one else. And even them, I am thinking about.
Not sure about Howson, he was never combative enough for me (even though I was gutted when he left). Becks for the season, fair enough. After all, we can afford it
I think that's a very short sighted view of things. Frankly if they'd chosen to stay while Bates was here they'd have been being stupid.
Simon,i understand,i was raised supporting Leeds 69 onwards,no player left us,loyalty and a love for the shirt was there,i saw Jordan make is debut for us,i adored the man,he wants to go to manure? That was too much
Snodgrass is undoubtedly a Premiership quality player (albeit a bit one footed). I can understand why you'd want him back. I believe the sole reason he left was due to Bates as he obviously loved Leeds. Howson hasn't blown me away, but he's clearly talented and perhaps with time in our squad he'll start to hit form in a meaningful way. Johnson is decent, but he's never going to be a flair player or one to set the pitch alight. Good squad player to have. Hope the takeover works out for you guys, you're a proud club and deserve better than Bates.
Jack Charlton requested a transfer, and if Revie had let him go you'd probably have said the same about him. Unless players are actively disloyal (e.g. show dissent towards the fans/club, move to scum/Chelsea, demand unreasonably money) I don't mind them once they've left.
Only his dribbling is one footed which is kinda wierd as thats where you really expect a player to be both footed. He was probably the best two footed player in the championship though when it came to crossing and shooting
Oh, and back to the point. I'd have Beckford, Gradel, Snodgrass, Howson and Clayton (considering he went reasonably cheap as well, wouldn't make it into the first team though) back. Imagine our deadly attack that we had when we were scoring for fun and attacking so nicely with our current defence
