He's only on a one year rolling contract, the compo would not be substantial, if Bruce declares he wants to go, then he's gone, exactly as the Pearson situation.
If Bruce goes then so be it. It will be because he sees Newcastle as a bigger opportunity, not because of anything to do with us. Bruce has been great for us, and I'd rather he'd stay with us but he's not without flaws. He's a great man-manager and excellent in the transfer market but as a coach or tactician there are more skillful managers out there and that is the main reason why Bruce has never got near the England job (or even the Man United job)
NUFC have bigger aspirations than we do - they see themselves at least as a top 10 club probably top 8 is minimum requirement for many of their fans. Failure to produce that and whoever is manager is likely to get the push. IF Pardew gets the boot (and I'm not convinced MA will pay mega bucks compensation for Pardew and his backroom team) and IF SB were approached to take his place - and did so - he might be out of work come next summer! Here's hoping that either A) Pardew keeps his job or B) Ashley is more keen on Moyes or Pulis than he is in SB.
No, a resounding no actually, and Pulis is more likely to get a massive contract from whoever's in the brown stuff come Christmas
Like Bruce, Pulis would not get near the England job either. David Moyes would be a good option but he would fancy the Newcastle job more than us. I'd even go for a punt on Zola even though Watford imploded in the same season we went up
I wouldn't say happy but he might be the best we could hope for and he would certainly keep us in the PL should it come to that.
We won't get a better manager than Bruce, I wasn't his biggest fan after things went tits up at Sunderland, but he's been absolutely exceptional for us. I don't doubt that he's very grateful for the backing he's received from the owners, but equally, I'm sure he's utterly pissed off with this name change nonsense. I don't think the nonsense is enough to make him leave, but if he does leave, particularly to work for Ashley, then it will have played it's part.
The Hull Daily Mail are very predictably linking and headlining Steve Bruce with this non existent vacancy. As they did Peter Taylor with the Palace job when he was flying high as Hull City manager and then again Phil Brown with another non existent job at Sunderland. Steve Bruce said today 'what ****ing job? why don't you **** off and report on something positive happening at Hull City, like the game tomorrow for example, and our returning International players and the possible debut of our four new players? There isn't even a vacancy at ****ing Newcastle, I'm not interested even if there was so why don't you stop **** stirring and find some proper news to write about you ****ing morons?'
I'd be gutted if we ended up with Pulis, he might be a manager who can keep you in the Premier League, but you don't get much fun while you're there.
Bruce backed heavily for this season we want 10th min....though expect 8th!...or WE start calling the f...g shots pal!
Newcastle don't want a manager they want a magician. Paul Daniels is currently 10/1 for the job with David Blaine attracting attention at 25/1. Some silly bastard Geordies think Alex Ferguson might be interested. The Chaser is 20's Mister Blobby 33/1 Andy Capp 11/4 joint favourite Jimmy Nail 25/1 Sting 33/1 Postman Pat 10/1 Spit the Dog 66/1 Ant and ****ing Dec 11/4 joint favourites Terry Dolan 25,000/1 Mrs Brown 8/1
For me there's only 1 thing that might put Bruce off the job and that's the Jawdies unrealistic expectations. Nothing is ever good enough for them. If they finished 6th it would be still ****e, they want a trophy and Champions League football "cos we get ****ing 56,000 every home game, man" (they dont) and if its anything less they want the manager out. If Bruce went he'd be out of work again in under 3 years. FACT. I still think its a risk he'd take though.
