You have to think seriously about what those signings would do to the group. Everyone else would be feeling inferior. It would be likely to backfire.

Yorkie, do you think they might say, **** it, the players we bring in will bring us far more than the 3 or 4 point deduction we may get?

I guess it's spend 100 million, get 60 pts but lose 4 points for breaking ffp rules
    Or
Spend 40 million, get 35 points and no deduction.

Common sense to take first option, especially when there will be others around us getting points deductions

I think they’ve worked out a budget within the rules for the Prem and they are going to push it to the very limit and gamble on Premier League football being sustained. I think they are also going to be ruthless with the established players when it comes to wages and some of them will get pissed off and leave.

If we have any real ambition to make a serious fist of it then I would have expected us to have made a serious bid for Summerville from Leeds. PL experience and top scorer in the Chanp last season. I’m all for potential but potential alone won’t cut it next season. Feels like we are doing a Sheff Utd spending 100 Million on championship also rans.

Philogene is half the price and he’s unpredictable. Gnonto was the Leeds player I’d have taken, if any. I wouldn’t even look at Summerville.

It must be going through because they're not on the plane to Turkey warm weather training camp.

I personally don't care about the cost.
Ashton and moreso the owners, are not stupid. They'll know what we can afford, and they won't put the club in jeopardy.
This is their investment, and they are very shrewd.
Will these 3 from Hull make us better? Hell yeah.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. People can get carried away with the emotion and excitement and do daft things under pressure and stress. None of them have got any experience of the top league in the world. Nobody sets out to stupid things but people frequently do.

I don’t think I’d have given McKenna a £20m contract and I’d have done everything I could to keep Hladky at the club whereas they haven’t even made an attempt to negotiate, it’s all a gamble.

I don’t see how these 3 will make us any better. Moderate at best and if thus is the best that we will get then we will be in big trouble.

Is Delap a better player than Hamadi or Ladapo? Yes
Is Philogene better than Broadhead? Yes
Is Greaves better than Cam or Burgess? Most likely.
Add to that they have a lot more potential to increase in value, so yes, I feel it's a no brainer for me.
Is this the best we can get? Maybe it is. We are a draw, but no top premiership player will risk coming to a club that was a 3rd division club 18 months ago.

Now with this Philogene transfer, villa have matched our offer, which means they have him. They also have a 30% sell on clause, so they can buy him for 30% less, so 5.4 million less. I wonder if they will keep him or sell straight off?

it’s not a done deal because the player will have to want to go. If he won’t be playing first team football there and will get loaned out, why would he sign? So unless they are going to lie through their teeth and tell him he’ll be a star player then they are just chancing their arm. They might even know the player wants to come to Town and be trying to trigger a bidding war and increase their sell on money.

From our side, we haven’t really put in a £22m bid for Greaves so Hull won’t want that deal to fall through.

So by the sounds of it, villa could stitch Hull up, by buying him back for around 10m, then selling him straight to us for 15...is that how read it?
