This where you have to be completely clear on the definition of comparison! I don't think anyone wants to start a Hudds as good as Pirlo thread...if one did appear, it wouldn't have my name under it!

I have written him off before, but if he wants to change my mind on that, I can't wait! :)

In seriousness what I'm saying is, other teams defend quite well enough with special but flawed creative players, shouldn't we at least look at doing the same. If anyone can find the elusive Ade he can! :D

I also think you were perhaps a little harsh earlier on Sandro not being creative, I think he is, its not pretty, but his battering ram charges through the middle are direct and he lays it off well enough I thought, a bit like Yaya Toure without the shooting ability!, we miss his drive imo, it adds variety to the attack, Parker doesn't. I've also seen him switch play with passes Hudd would be proud of.

Find Ade??? Hoddle managed to find God, but even he would struggle at the moment!!! :emoticon-0100-smile

Huddlestone has vowed not to cut his hair untill he scores another goal.

AVB, please drop Adebayor and put Hud in the centre forward position. His long rediculous afro hair is adding weight and will slow him when it rains. After all, he can't be any worse then Ade at the moment. :afro:

Spurs must surely try to keep Huddlestone at the Lane. :D

Either we'll make CL and therefore won't need anybody, or won't make it and therefore won't have any money to spend.

He also has a tackling technique that leads to breaks. One of my favorite memories of this year was a Sandro corkscrew tackle that knocked the ball forward for a break that led to a goal.
Losing him was a huge setback this year.

How many players at Spurs have Tommy's technical ability and class? Not many. I love seeing players as exceptional as him at Spurs. He might not suit every game and yes he does need other types of midfielder around him but of our current midfielders he's got to be as good as shout as anyone for someone to build a midfield (if not a team) around.

Plus due to the slightly stop-start nature of his career he's never reached the sort of monetary value that he's probably worth. Tommy is NOT the sort of player who should be bought for 7m by Stoke.

Yeah he's not that mobile and his tackling (or lack of) is crap. Don't care.

I do recall Tommy going on about leaving Spurs about three years or so ago when he wasn't getting much game time (believe he was coming back from injury then too) but then came back into the team and was central to our success.

As I've said before - ask JD or Bale or Ade or Dempsey if they want Tommy in the team. If I was a forward I would absolutely LOVE having him spraying balls around. I think his first touch against City pretty much put Ade through (wrongly called offside). If Tommy's pulling the strings even Ade might look dangerous.

Thud played a big role in our push for top 4 previously.

I see no reason why we can't have a selection of midfielder types. Some games will require a parker/Sandro/Livermore type to get stuck in, whilst others (europe for example) will need for some ball retention.

You can see the confidence it breeds when you can keep the ball. Holtby, Dembele, Thud, Parker, Sandro, Livermore + an other is a nice midfield selection to have.

Would still love to get Cabaye in as well though.

Agree mate, Hudd was instrumental in our CL push season, if he can regain that sort of form we're laughing.

Cabaye's a cracking player but I wouldn't want any other CM to be brought in to be honest, purely because we've got Carroll breaking through and the likes of Luongo, Pritchard and Bentaleb are players that can play CM or CAM a bit down the line. Our current batch of the ones you mentioned are a good combination I think, anymore would get a little crowded.

I think a striker and possibly a new right back is all we really need at the moment to be "complete" so to speak.

I Don't know too much about the youth, but if they are ready to start playing in games next season then fair enough.
I don't agree regarding the rb though, with Naughton and Kaboul I think we are fine, I would like to see 100% of our funds spent on Striker and Winger.

Yes, I should have added that, he turns defence into attack singlehandedly, I like the way he hooks the ball when he slides in so he comes out with it, changes direction and off he goes! impeccable timing needed for that. He may not thread the final pass, but lays it off to someone who will, but he's still created the opportunity in my book.

    Thanks. Nice to be appreciated!

And returning to the title of the thread I should have summed it up by saying: LET the Huddlefro stay?! More like bloody well MAKE him stay!

Him , Dawson, JD - even if they might not get into people's ideal first 11 these players are worth their weight in gold to a team serious about progressing.

IMHO Ceballos is ready to be in the seniors. Or at least be on loan to a club in the PL / below league.
If Swindon get promoted, then it would be nice if Byrne/Luongo/etc could stay with them the next season.
Parrett appears to have blotted his copybook (still don't know the specifics) .
Pritchard will probably go on loan all next season too.
