I’d happily take a draw. We’d go into Leeds with confidence even with a draw, I just hope the pressure of making top 4 doesn’t creep in. I do think Arsenal will win though, even Xhaka has admitted they want revenge for last season.
3 to 4 points would be nice from the next 2 .... then hope Liverpool slip up otherwise the last 3 will become very difficult circumstances.
Never thought I’d say this but I honestly hope Longstaff is fit to play. Simply for his engine as I reckon Arsenal will have a lot of the ball.
Arsenal are better than they were last season. Their midfield have stepped up - Partey and Odegard have been excellent and Xhaka has been getting forward and scoring more. We basically bullied them out of it last year but they are not so much of a soft touch now. However they have weaknesses in the centre at the back and we need to exploit that with Isak. A lot of their forward play is also facilitated by their full backs so play Almiron, Gordon or Willock, assuming St Maximin isn’t fit, and get them to push up on the full backs to stop them getting forward too much. Suspect we will struggle for possession but if we can keep it tight at the back we will get chances to score.
Howe has cleared up the 'It's done' nonsense in todays presser. Still work to do and not over at all.
He isn’t going to come out and say yeah, it’s going to be piss easy. Sheesh. Give yourself a few weeks off
Why would he say something that just isn't factually correct ? So now you're saying he's a liar ? Or maybe a WUM? I think he's just saying it like it is personally.
I think the point is that anyone who says "it's done now, we're making top 4" is an idiot, thus it was blindingly obvious that Howe would say there's still work left.
People were saying it was done post Southampton , but many of us could see that it wasn't. There's still too many possibles.
If anyone predicted it after Southampton (early November) I want their suggestions for lottery tickets!
These people who were "predicted" it after Soton may have just been rejoicing at the fact it was in touching distance and exaggerating with their celebrations. I'm not sure hyperbole has entered Munson's world yet.
They wanted to rule out possibilities rather than accept they exist which is fine but just not a rational position. Sometimes people need to hear it from a person they don't consider themselves to be superior to. The coming weeks will decide what happens and Newcastle are in a strong position and no more than that.
TBF If you look at What Eddie has done since January '22 in the league... 53 Games 31 Wins 13 Draws 9 Losses...
I really hope Newcastle get this over the line because it's an opportunity thry probably won't get for years especially If they end up in the Europa League which is like quicksand. The ideal scenario of leapfrogging it straight into the top 4 is right there now. Let's hope just for once nufc don't **** it up.
Don’t shoot the messenger but I heard from a guy who’s sisters friend once wore a black and white dress that we might finish in the top 4……
