Lest we Forget

I'm not going to start giving detailed accounts of the politics of occasions when troops have been used to either restore the 'freedom' of innocent population or parties, or to maintain such freedom. There have been many such requirement throughout history. -- suffice to say that Britain and other countries throughout the whole world would be controlled by very different styles of politics if it wasn't for the personal sacrifice of others whose sole task was to promote or safeguard freedom of the populace.

If anyone wishes to acquaint themselves with the exact details, I suggest you spend sometime on the internet - 'away' from General Chat.

We live in a 'free' society - only because our ancestors were prepared to oppose regimes that would have us all being oppressed. I think that it is disrespectful not to 'remember' and acknowledge their sacrifice for one day a year. I'm not asking anyone to 'do anything' ((physically), - or to wear a poppy - but just to have a few thoughts of gratitude for your freedom - or at least allow others to do everything you don't want to do to commemorate the anniversary without making remarks such as being glad that some councils have banned the 'sale' of poppies..... I actually cannot think of a word that adequately describes my disgust of them - or those who make remarks to applaud such action.
Yeah, I forgot.

You so crazy.

Britain has one of the worst track records in world history for oppressing peoples.

B-Celtic you asked for my help.
I have given my honest answer - I have no axe to grind with you - but sometimes my answers are not what people want to hear.

In future I'll try to be a better Dev.
Yours Respectfully,
alwaysright.

No need for apologies. There isn't a problem with having different opinions - even between best mates -- and I can even have sympathy for some argument of my 'enemy.'

I really don't want to get into a deep political debate about all the finer points of the merits of every instance of 'war.' I think that the issue of poppies relates more to times when war was more about the freedom of Nations. My thoughts regarding 'modern' wars, tend to dwell on other 'priorities' for their 'justification.' A very brief ( possibly cynical ), expansion of this point is that some wars that the U.S.A. involve themselves, have a lot to do with economics or the supply of oil or gas.

Your aspergers astounds me.

And you would care if you weren't 'free' to be able to call me a **** in an internet forum without being stamped on.
With most modern wars there can be a variety of agendas - some of these are far removed from the need to promote or maintain 'freedom' - but the paramount point must be that freedom.
Wars are never about freedom, get yer head out of your ignorant arse.

Stamped on
