I remember the game well and look at our team that day:

Cody - our top scorer of the season and now out of our price range.
Oli - is he to be the man up front with Kedwell for the coming season.
Lawrence - thought by many as the player to be wearing the captain's armband.
Bayo - on the bench.

and yet Birchall ripped us apart, well I certainly remember that 30 yard strike, numb would be the words to describe watching that go in. I just hope where ever he goes, history does not repeat itself.

What was it a rumoured 125k for Kedwell and yet 20k for Birchall, have we really only got a remaining budget of 20k for another striker?

Either bad reporting or someone's got a broken calculator!

tbh it seems that scally is being quiet shrewd this window by going in with low offers for players and then upping it. just look at whelpdale and lee. the problem is that the dover chairmen is determined not to let him come to us (not sure if thats something we can report him for but hey ho), therefore we are either gonna have to pay a little more than others and maybe appeal to him in a differnet way. however i think we will be better off just looking else where, there must be other strikers out there either on a free or who can be picked up for decent money. anyone know of any other prolific non league strikers? is grimes still available?

Michael West is a shout I think. Saw him Saturday night actually and thought of this myself. I know he used to be a midfielder so is he more predominantly a striker now?

I really hope we start to take notice of teams around us a bit more. Hess released a statment last season that he didn't feel Birchall was suited to our team and style of play, the thought of Cody, Bayo and him playing up top together would please me to no end. If we have 20k left perhaps the sale of Jackman and Hendon compensation could allow us to come to a compromise with Dover. Any young strikers from the higher echilons stand out for loan?

The longer Cody goes without a move I still can't help but think he may return for another season. He knows what he's getting here and his season kick started playing in front of Whelpdale last year. Maybe, just maybe...
