Too many alternative to 606 sites. Some of the interesting cricket posters have gone to ja606 but then I prefer this site for its functions other than just posting text. We need one site to win through and get all of the users signed up. Sort it out Michael.

Geeks, Nerds, Hackers, DDoS-ers and Anonymous hub

Given that it took me about two months just to figure out how to resize the partition on the server hard drive to stop the apache logs filling it up every two days I doubt I can class myself in those categories <laugh>

BBC606 statement
Back in January it was announced that BBC Online's budget would be cut by 25 per cent.

At the time we announced that the impact of this budget cut on the BBC Sport website would be the closure of four services within the BBC Sport website - namely the 606 website, the Fun and Games section, the Sports News video bulletin and the Academy section, as well as a turning down of the volume in certain sports where our current levels of coverage could not be sustained.

Tomorrow (Tuesday 31 May) the latest implementation of that announcement will happen as the 606 website closes during the morning. The Fun and Games section has already closed, and the other changes will follow soon.

The reasons for the closure of 606 were explained in full in January in a blog by the Head of BBC Sport Interactive, Ben Gallop and tomorrow's closure is merely the implementation of that decision which was taken at the start of 2011.
