Not quite on the anniversary of his death but
On 24 November 1976:
Andrew Crocker, 18-years-old, single and a soldier with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers was serving with his regiment's 1st Battalion. He was shot by the INLA while he was on foot patrol between Ardmonagh Gardens and Whiterock Road. He died almost immediately after being hit once in the neck. As soldiers were moving in to conduct a search after the killing, a riot broke out. Women and children were rattling dustbin lids and blowing whistles. Two men were jailed for 12 years in October 1977 after pleading guilty to manslaughter while a 3rd man was jailed for 10 years for conspiring to rob a nearby post office. The court was told the men were carrying out a robbery and that the lookout fired the shot as soldiers arrived on the scene. The shot was fired to cause a distraction while the robbers escaped. Fusilier Crocker was hit when the bullet passed through 2 sets of railings.

LEST WE FORGET!
Andy's buried in Morriston crem and his name is on the wall plague nearest sea side under other conflicts.

I was also 18 at the time - just 33 days before my 19th birthday.

RIP Andrew <rose>

I knew Andy who was two years younger than myself and it was his first tour. The last time I saw him we were both queuing in Lloyd’s bank in Morriston ,we had a few days leave before embarking to Belfast .He was A company me Support , his father never got over his death and died in his early sixties .Life is all about fine margins a couple of centimetres and I’m sure he’d still be here with a family of his own

Hi Stereo, hope you've recovered from your hospital stay <cheers>
I’ve been told the CAR-T transplant was a success and I’m in complete remission. I have another appointment first week of December to see if that’s still the case.
Feels like a massive burden has been lifted from my family.
To Infinity and Beyond !
