Im partially with Boris here, just because he broke our transfer record doesn't neccessarily mean hes going to solve all our problems, but Pearson obviously has a plan for him to chase him around for so long this summer. Pearsons always said that he likes to get value for money, so for him to spend £7m suggests Ulloa can be worth that or more to us. I dont know how much more business will take place between now and the end of the transfer window, but now this seems to be getting over the line, its time to start throwing new names at the wall to see what sticks!
I don't really think breaking our transfer record is that big a deal... We haven't been in the Premiership for 10 years
£7M for a 27 year old who's only success is one season of Championship football. Don't have any good feelings about this at all - we will be lucky to recoup a quarter of the money if he turns out to be as bad as I think he might be. I rate Wood much higher then him which is the worst thing about this as this probably means he is going.
While i think he is over priced i think he will be a great signing. One thing i will say about him from that game is he made Kasper look a muppet when he took the ball around him No and easy feat at all and we all know how professional and dedicated Kasper is so i cant see him being too pissed up that game Ulloa looks a proper finisher. He also scored twice against Hull last season
For those of us old enough to remember, the last Leonard (Lenny) that played for us was some player!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZi9fxOjKLI
Wow BigFox ... your glass isn't just half empty ... the waitress has peed in it ... Liverpool have just spent £27 million on a player of the same age (roughly) Adam Lallana whose success to date was a good championship campaign with Southampton followed by a fair couple in the Premiership ... oh and less we forget coming on as a sub for a piss poor England side in the World Cup ... and you are worried about us recouping a quarter of the money we have spent? Chris Wood is nowhere near as good as this guy right now IMHO ... for all his size CW is not the best at holding up play and possesses very limited aerial threat for a centre forward (that's a gentle way of saying that he is s**t in the air ... I'm not writing him off completely but there was good reason for him being our third choice striker last season ... by distinct Ulloa was Brighton's 'talismanic' main man by comparison and kept them up there as promotion contenders with his goals ... and deserved that accolade according to any Brighton fan I have heard comment ... How many times have you seen Leo Ulloa play live? ... I'll admit I haven't seen him more than 3 (but liked what I saw - he scored in each but it was more his allround touch and aerial threat) - I firmly believe that if he stays fit he will become a firm fans favourite ... he is going to rough up Premiership defensives no question and if we can decent service from wide areas expect him to win most things in the air ...
Amazes me that some fans have such a hang up about spending decent money. And as for Chris Wood being better than Ulloa....... Really? Jeez. For a start Wood can't head a ball.
Would have big doubts about ulloa if I was you guys , to be fair for that price I would want somebody tried and tested
... like Jelavic or Shane Long ? ... I'll back Ulloa to outscore Long from open play next season Fettis (assuming we do sign him of course) ... how about a friendly fiver?
I expect long and jelavic to both have good seasons and think both of these two will perform better than ulloa , so friendly fiver I would take that !
Well I did have my doubts about Ulloa, but now Fetid has backed him to fail, I know he'd do just fine!
His goals last year... 1.50 odd for his goal against Hull, the touch to lay it off was quality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIZ_wEEkL8U
No. He's clearly a much better player and he'll certainly play more that Prozzie did. Plus, he hasn't come from nowhere like Prozzie, we've all seen what he can do at a decent standard. Besides, paying £7m for a first-teamer in the Prem is not as bad as paying £3m for a Championship reserve. Nige doesn't throw money away. If he thinks he's worth £7m, the likelihood is he's worth £14m.
