Lens: Toivonen understands how I play
Ola Toivonen will bring assists, goals and creativity to Sunderland according to Jeremain Lens.
The Dutchman played alongside Toivonen at PSV Eindhoven and the duo instantly demonstrated their excellent understanding at Villa Park, as the new signing came off the bench to deliver a decisive assist to Lens who fired home a second-half equaliser.
And speaking to safc.com Lens revealed there is plenty more to come from the Sweden international.
“He understands the way I play and he knows I have the speed to make the most of passes like that [Toivonen’s assist].
“It was a great moment for him and a great moment for me. He’s very good on the ball and his touch is excellent so he can support the attackers and also create and score goals, so he will be very important for the team and as you saw on Saturday he delivered.”
He continued: “We’ve added a lot of quality to the squad so when we know which players are leaving and which are coming in we can build the team and we will pick up good results.
“I’m really enjoying my time at the club. We have a good team and a very good group with great staff, plus everybody around the place is amazing so it’s not been difficult to settle and I really like it here."
