I woke up at 9am turned on the race on a safety car and enjoyed the level of racing on show. 1. missed up grid. 2. cars half damaged 3. variety of strategies. 4 lunatics who play dodgems still out there. there was enough passing spots on the track as well and aggression to see good racing. alonso slide then overtake on Hamilton was great. morons like k-mag and stroll going at it like the utter idiots they are was very enjoyable.
The Miami Grand Prix will take place from Friday 3 until Sunday 5 May 2024, with the race starting at 4pm local time [9pm BST] on Sunday 5 May.
Hamilton on Lap 32 after the safety car was 7 seconds behind Verstappen. When he finished 24 laps later he lost another 50 seconds Russell was only 2 seconds ahead at that point but then finished almost 20 seconds up the road.
Hamilton is having a mare - whilst I’ve no doubt he isn’t at his best at the moment for a variety of reasons, it’s so bad you do wonder if the forces at Merc are punishing him a bit here. As bad as he’s ever looked. I think he’ll bounce back very strongly next season but this year- who knows.
Mercedes just don`t seem to be able to understand the ground effect regulations that came in force in 2022. They have now spent 3 years chasing less bouncing, more speed and the lack of grip. People go on and on about Mercedes have not yet unlocked the potentional in this car,but they must now being starting to realise that there is nothing in this car to be unlocked.
He looked ok in the sprint yesterday? I expect the biggest issue is motivational. Merc generally aren’t competing for wins, so he can’t add to his personal statistics and he’s no longer developing the car for his own benefit which has to at least have an effect subconsciously?
Why has best bit about the entire weekend for me , was Jennie Gow is back . I think she’s excellent . Oh , and Albans helmet design
it's irrelevant who was at what time after the safety car. verstappen was always going to cruise away. Hamilton was behind a few cars he needed to pass and thst costs time. tell me what Russell did while thst was going on? Hamilton got a few passes done including one quite good one.
Best bit at the weekend for me was when Alonso almost lost it on the gravel coming out of the final corner. He then gathered it all up and floored it to overtake Hamilton into turn one. Fantastic. moreinjuredthanowen also commented on this,as I think he liked it too.
oh yes thst was pretty much do or die stuff. you could see he was actually on the ragged edge on a charge and really the pass was good but tyre difference massively. a good charge to end the race rather than tyre conservation
As time goes on, I find him all the more impressive. No doubt in my mind an all time great who should be a multi, multi WDC. Sure he got some things wrong, but really the only thing he truly messed up was his McLaren first stint. The rest was all bad timing. The way he has maintained that animal instinct to compete is all the more impressive now we see how Hamilton has collapsed once he lost his dominant car in his latter years. Raikonnen faded, Hamilton is having a tough time, Vettel faded, Rosberg quit having climbed his Everest. But ‘Nando? He’s toughed it out wherever he went. Look at how he was dragging the Alpine around. Look at what he’s doing in this Aston compared to that spoilt tool in the other side of the garage. Almost dragged two average Ferraris to titles against Neweys last Red Bull era with Vettel. If only Honda could have hit the ground running with McLaren. What a story it could have been. The saddest thing of all for me is that after 2007, we never really ever saw another Alonso v Hamilton head to head. It really would be marvellous if he could have one more shot at a title with Aston.
