    At the end of the day he is their best player and as a result they will up the asking price because they don't want to lose him. If it was the other way round we would ask for 35mil for Lambert to go to Celtic.

    We're not being superior to anyone, other than the rest of the English Championship. We are, however, making a concerted push to get promoted to the Premier League and we have the financial backing to start building a Premier League side. I'm not sure where Murdoch comes into that, other than the rewards available for getting promoted.

    Or it could be turned the other way and said they're only in it for the money, the EPL has A LOT of those types of players

    Any player who would choose Southampton and being in a relegation battle over winning trophies and playing in the Champions League needs their head examined.

    Totally agree. No team has to roll over for another. We hate it when the PL come knocking at our door. Saints make offers and it's entirely up to Celtic's board whether they accept or not and then it's up to the player whether he agrees. I do, however, prefer our system of keeping out of the media limelight.

    You've got that very wrong. Celtic will get maybe 4 games in the CL a season, losing 3 of them. Saints on the other hand will be challenging for Europe in 5 years time.
