I wish our club would go out there and offer him a job, whatever it is, just something to keep him in football. We have been his club during his formative years and we should do our upmost to look after him. If Ehab is that greedy I would even chip in and pay towards his wages.
Life can be **** whatever walk of life you’re in. To be a professional footballer and injured long term is devastating - to have to retire is obviously even worse. I wish him the very best, as with Ryan, Moses etc.
Just goes to show you never know what is going on with a player. This is terrible news, and my heart goes out to him. What is says in the HDM sound very good on the club, to say he didn't feel he was being rewarded for his hard work, really doesn't sound as if he was getting the support he needed and to be just left to try and sort himself out, which as we know with a mental condition is not easy to do. I guess there is one plus, and that is that he didn't retire because of injury, so hopefully if he gets the right help, he may get to play again. I wish him all the best, and hope he can recover fully.
I wrongly assumed his mental health problems surfaced after he left when i first read the thread this morning, but having now read the HDM editorial and seeing this was happening while still at the club is very shameful for the whole of football in general. We dont seem to have learned anything from what has been happening in recent history. As a club we have ourselves had millions coming through the accounts yet still dont give the mental side of players the attention they deserve. I’m not using this as a bash the ****wit duo, but as a club have first hand experience of mental health with one of our retired “stars”, only for it still to be alive and kicking right under our noses. I’m not sure what HCAFC and football in general can do to improve this, but surely with millions being put through the books, football should be able to be at the forefront of finding solutions for this hideous illness. Should every club have access to mental health professionals even go as far as to have them on the books? I hope Mr Lenihans problems are well and truly behind him and can now strive to live a happier and fulfilling life.
