Good god we are hopeless. A new defensive style where we are actually worse defensively and much worse in attack.

Our ball retention is tragically bad, mainly because our set up is so structured in an attempt to be solid that we are entirely predictable.

At least we can look forward to a break from this garbage for a few months

 

Oh dear, I jinxed it at half-time. But the first half really was OK and that might be something to cling onto for next season.

But then the second half. OK, the first goal was very bad luck but we collapsed after that. The substitutions didn't help again. Suddenly our shape had totally gone. In the end even Pukki looked like he didn't really care. I don't think he'll be here next season.

 

Our worst ever goals conceded tally in a premier league season (and still two matches to play).

And we still need to score four goals to avoid our lowest goals scored in a PL season. I don’t hold out any hope for that.

 

If we don't get another point, that will make it officially worse than 19/20.

A sorry state of affairs. Especially given our 19/20 season was effectively ruined by Covid.

 

I believe the reasoning is that Rowe's not matured enough as a player to play effectively for 90 mins. His fitness and strengths suit playing at max tempo the entire time he's on the pitch, and that makes it hard for him to play 90 mins. Springett has more endurance and a slightly more rounded game. In theory.

 

Sometimes I think my crystal ball is taking the piss.

 

They were OK in the first half Pooky should of scored .
Angus was excellent until the inevitable fluke deflection from Handley who also played well up until then .
After that the confidence and shape went to jelly.

Gilmore greedily took a shot almost every time he was in there half most of them ballooned over , as if his first Premier league goal was more important than the team .
Byram was OK at centre back.
Forcing Pukki to play pretty much every game at 32 because we don't have any other strikers shows the recruitment wasn't up to scratch .

It was game over as soon as they scored but I forced myself to watch to the end just in case a miracle happened and we scored.

Only won 5 all season scoring 22 and conceding 78 is horrendous, I think we are the lowest scorers in all English domestic leagues and probably in Europe.

We are utter **** Lost our last 5 and not even playing for pride , any side that plays us knows they just need to turn up and we will gift them a number of soft goals or even put it In our own net or hand them a penalty.

We have in my opinion gone backwards under Dean Smith and his latest match selections and formations looked like he's just picking names out of a hat at random.

He may be a good coach but not a good fit for the players Webber brought in .

It's beginning to look obvious that we were heavily reliant on Buendia for any kind of class or identity.

Can't argue with any of that. Except to add that, as in the previous game, the substitutions didn't work and any cohesion we had as a team totally disappeared after they were made.

 

On the plus side we don't play on Saturday soy Saturday won't be ruined.
