Unless we win the Champions League this year then I disagree with this, and since I can't see us winning the CL somehow we need top 4. 1 year without CL football is recoverable, more and it's becoming a pattern and not just a one off and then it'll take some fantastic buys from the players that maybe aren't classed as world class category but up their game or a lucky season to get back in it. Top 4 has to be the priority, not only do our main sponsorship deals require it but our attraction will fade, not totally, but it will fade if players see our lack of CL football as being a pattern and not a one off.
Oh NO!! I don't blame Moyes! I totally blame the men who appointed him as a manager. Sir Alex especially. Moyes had no clue whatsoever. His football philosophy was just not United's way. You could tell by simply listening to him during his early press conferences. There is clear daylight between Moyes and LVG. I even said earlier in the year that I wouldn't trust Moyes with £200m. I firmly believe that had LVG took over last year, we would have challenged for the title. I, for one, am very happy Sir Alex is gone!! We became too dependent on him unlike most clubs in Europe where they have found a way to progress forward regardless of the manager. I hated watching United win on luck during in his last few years. I hated seeing Barcelona toy with us for three seasons yet he did nothing to progress the team once Ronaldo and Tevez left. As for LVG, I'm looking forward to him getting the foundation together for the future.
I thought Clatterberg was absolutely dire today. We shouldn't have had our first penalty and that we should have had a foul in the middle of the park in the build up to the Di Maria goal. All in all i'm just glad that it didn't have any bearing on the outright result because this is the kind of result we've been dreaming about while rotting in the lower leagues for 10 years. Nigel Pearson is the best thing to happen to our club, ever.
Exciting game. Well done, Leicester! As expected, Man Utd looked great going forward but shocking at the back. I still say we'll concede less goals this season, but it's going to be a close run thing, that's for sure!
You'll batter all the teams like us (Newcastle), who can't score to save themselves and look hopeless upfront, but the likes of Southampton, Swansea, West Ham, Everton etc etc seem like they have enough attacking thrust this year to give you real problems if this defensive crisis persists. Confidence is on the floor at the moment... But... I have faith Van Gaal will turn it around. The Netherlands hardly had the greatest defensive players on Earth
To be fair, last season the confidence was shot throughout the team. It's clear that the new signings have improved our passing game and what's being missed is by many ppl is where the goals are coming from - not just our strikers but from midfielders also. Something United have been missing for nigh on 5 years. Now the only area of the pitch suffering from the hangover of last season is the defence. Got a feeling Van Gaal will go back to playing 3 at the back and play someone like Fletcher in front of them. Maybe Luke Shaw and Rafael as the wing backs.
... no matter what the result is? ... we have now drawn with Arsenal and Everton, given Chelsea their toughest game of the season to date (on their own manor) beaten the Premiership's ogres (Stoke) away and put 5 past a Man United side containing Falcao, Van Persie, Di Maria, Rooney, Blind and Rojo ... ... given that you've lost to Villa and West Ham do you think you might be joining us in our relegation struggle?
To the minority on here ... the Man United fans ... chin up lads I think that was the most exciting, incident packed game of football I have seen for years ... TBF you caused our defence more problems than any other team we have played so far (including Chelsea) .... once the defence is sorted out (and it will be no doubt) I dread to think just how good you will be ... To give the game a boxing analogy it felt like the Ali v Foreman fight (for those that can remember it) ... we were defending for grim life for such a long part .. but when we had weathered the storm you couldn't cope with our final burst of energy .... The first penalty decision was a pretty horrendous gaff from the ref admittedly ... but that did not 'win' the game for us ... you were still 3-2 ahead ... and how many people outside of Leicester die-hards thought at that point that we would actually equalise before you got another, let alone win, not many I'll wager... One thing for sure, I'm going to enjoy watching you this season because going forward you are top drawer ... the added attraction is that your vulnerability at the back (currently) makes the prospect of goals immense ...
This puts moyes sacking as a panic sacking tbh. Moyes must be laughing his head off with the millions in his bank account and a better record than gigs and van gaal combined...
Appreciate the credit being given to LEICESTER (and rightly so we were bloody great) from the united fans and also agree that that it was a clear foul on Rafael by Vardy in the lead up to the 1st penalty. That said it did not have enough of an impact to create a 4 goal swing in our favor. No idea what United were doing the last 25 mins but we sure made the most of it. Wonderful game for the neutral and a very happy Fox tonight in sunny Miami
Is it both are misunderstood and hated for all the wrong reasons, despite being great and honourable kings in history?
