Once a side stops pressing our cbs and prsk the blocked on the two 6 then you'll see the issue writ large.
Leicester needs to come out and play which will make them vulnerable. We are going to hit them on counter attack.
I don't see this. I've seen far too many sides under pressure like this just park a bus for fear of losing the 1 point even if 3 is really needed. its all about pressure and belief
Faes was unbelievably poor, looked more like he'd won a prize rather than a professional footballer - if they do just invite us on all game then I think we play our way through comfortably based on last night.
Leicester needs to win all their remaining games to stay up. ,Liverpool at home, Newcastle away , West Ham at home. They are on 30 points .I cannot see them winning all their remaining games.
he did alright til he hacked one in against us in the prior fixture. Soyunchu is also checked out mentally imo. I'd hope that if they do not put anyone pressing on trent and fabinho that we will be able to walk the ball up and pass vertically through them. The main danger here is really turn overs and breaks It'd be nice to see this go a bit better than leeds game in terms of ease of getting the first one and then just hopefully follow that game in terms of us just finding space and breaking to score several. they can't give up in front of home fans here. Its too close to the end and so we have to beat them well and keep playing for 90 even if that is just keeping the ball down their end of the pitch for as long as possible.
I don't think anyone needs 39 to be safe. 36 more like. if we want them to play well v newcastle as we need then we have to beat them and hope it doesn't put them so far behind they can't stay up.
Vardy will be a nightmare if we’re open, but we do look to have the unforgivable 1 on 1’s down to 1 a game as opposed to 4 or 5!
I get what your saying but it’s almost like the zonal marking debate It would be ignored that generally we had a good defensive record while defending zonal but as soon as it went wrong Everyone be like - that zonal marking ! As I said this system may need tweaking but it’s definitely been a step forward in recent weeks I happy to see how it goes many pundits said our line was too high last year but we did alright with it Scrappy as but .., it’s very easy to be analytical and say we need to do a b c But even with all the things you are suggesting someone would/could find a weakness in those suggestions All good ideas but that’s the dance
its still borrowing from one place to supplement another. we are fundamentally a counter pressing side under klopp and will remain so. there is no plan b. He's not got 5 lads in jota jones gakpo henderson salah up there hitting the first line and 2 in the middle with 3 at the back. its exactly the same as the high line argument or zonal marking argument as you say. Its all fine til someone figures it out. Villa figured it out but nobody else repeated that really until city pumped it long in the community shield using bravo etc etc etc. Theres always a way to crack the egg. Especially when our egg was very obvious. If we really need 5 mean to press effectively then something is wrong. Its also simply not having any reliable triangles of passing any more but rather straight lanes. Its not trent, henderson, salah really as a triangle one side and robbo, windy, mane on the other. It's now a box where trent passes to henderson or across to fabinho or puts it long. he can't really involve salah as much and its really konate at RB, Trent at 6 and salah at RW. What we have really seen against the poor enough sides is that they want to go run at a cb. Brentford did this. leeds did it. even spurs did it. All went at the two CBS who now have two CMs to pass to and can actually run and jog up the park. As the other two cms are 20 yards further up the opponents midfield (SO FAR) have refused to come out and engage trent and fabinho much. the opponents are "picking up" the two false 10s. Trent then has the ball and can do largely what he likes if not confronted by a body. Its not like he is getting turned massively quickly, or moving that much. he has improved a bit but still not near a real CMS movement. IMO a smart manager will park a player on trent to push the ball back at konate or vvd and shut this down. The gap being left for us to cover in transition is the issue. Your two midfield buddies are 20 yards up the park so they are simply not getting back very quick so often we are seeing a more classic back 4 line but with trent at cb and konate at RB while fabinho is then the sole cover. I just find it all interesting as we saw rodgers get away with a 343 style thing in 2014/15 for a while with markovic lwb and sterling at false 9 but after 10 or so games sides finally got it figured.. its just surprising that in this day and age of analysis and stats that none of our opponents have yet pinned this system. But then you've 5 men up in their faces so most seem to be most worried about that. Its no coincidence that salah has picked up goals once theres support up there to play off. thats not really being mentioned enough. 7 goals in 7 games but not one assist. only missed out on scoring v west ham and 11 in 12 with 2 assists since march 1st. clearly he can make more runs he wants to and has stopped missing pens. football is still a simple game where more work, more desire and more talent can get you an awful long way. we seem to be making it quite complicated to get the bodies up the park.
Ftfy Leicester are open at the back, but still capable going forward - they scored three last night and missed a penalty, despite being atrocious. They've also got history against us and our defence isn't watertight. I can definitely see them testing us.
it was a fairly mad game. fulham were 4-0 up and 5-1 up. leicester were being driven all game by maddison but thier first goal was a long ball over the top at castagne who crossed it and maddison gifted the ball to barnes with a pass. Again. punt over the top sounds like out exact weakness they got then pen off a keeper error tring to get to a ball he had no right to. They then let the 5th one in. fulham made 2 subs first then fulham give them another pen and maddison scores. again its clumsy and two bites at different players then fulham make another 3 subs. then leicester score again off a long ball over the top. soyuncho punted it up and duffy ****ed up a back header Basically the game was end to end punting and not very controlled. but they got most joy off long punts. Ergo.... the got errors off fulham playing the exact type of stuff we were weak on. We have got to close down and not let them have a controlled long ball. 5 up pressing needs to prevent them putting it over konate. you are right, at 4-0 most sides ought to fold especially as it was away. they didn't give up but were atrocious at the back. I really think we need to score first and hit on counter. It requires brains to deal with these punts and i predict robbo being behind the line at least once playing all on. hopefully we don't cough up 2 pens and a virtual assist to them.
Yes, but I would be mildly peeved if we conceded three goals after being three nill up at one point. Happy for the win, but peeved at conceding so many.
I just think Fulham lost cohesion and really were almost on the beach. they.cannot.really go.any higher in table and prob would never concede those otherwise
Thing is, when we're in the mood for scoring I always think we can get another. When we're hanging onto a 1-0 lead and never really look like scoring again I'm more nervous about a late slip-up. An open game suits us more. Atm I'll take any sort of win, obviously.
