Wales did to Russia what England should have done. They play to their best players' strengths, allowing Ramsey and Bale to roam freely and the rest support them. I would argue that Vardy, Kane, and Alli are probably England's three best players (or at least most in form), but all have been played out of position and are constrained by their system. Qualifying from the group is good, obviously, but it was always a group we should have qualified from, and our failure to close games out against Russia and Slovakia have cost us a place in the desirable half of the draw.
Last minute winner from Iceland against Fuch's Austria means that they are out and we will play Iceland on Monday.
Probably. We are still too slow on the ball and don't look to move it forward quickly enough, preferring, or having, to hit sideways balls because the movement ahead of the ball is poor. Just watch teams such as Germany and Spain to see how to move off the ball and spread the play and stretch the opposition. I know we are unbeaten during the pre-tournament qualifiers and now the group stages, but we have been unable to beat teams like a depleted Russia side and couldn't score against Slovakia. Unfortunately our quality of play and movement off the ball aren't good enough, our strikers can't hit the target and we are still very iffy at the back. I suppose if you ignore all that then you could say we look good.
I can see us narrowly beating Iceland, maybe in extra time, and the rest of Europe hating us for it. Hell, I'll probably hate us for it as well, I always like a good underdog story, and there's something very endearing about Iceland, much more so than England.
I don't like watching England, they are a bunch of individuals not a team and the fact Roy doesn't seem bothered we are in the half of the draw with Spain, France, Germany and Italy over the half with Portugal, CRoatia and Belgium is embarrassing. The latter three are good sides but the main contenders are in our half from our failure to score against Slovakia! I'd have a wry smile if Iceland beat us as it would hopefully be bye bye Woy!
See we're still playing that incisive 3-touch game. They can't even manage 2-touches tonight, let lone 1-touch. Fantstic Iceland crowd though - what a noise!
Dinkwater's value has gone up - all the papers and pundits are putting his absence as one of the reason why we were ****.
Some good comments on here from own own Gary and Kasper http://www.skysports.com/football/n...euro-2016-elimination-after-defeat-by-iceland
After getting beaten by Iceland the FA have turned down a friendly against Lidl - didn't fancy getting beaten by 2 high street food retailers.
The thing was when Leicester have to play an "Slovakia or Iceland" we have Mahrez who can open them up with a bit of magic England have no one
