Strange one. I thought Wickham looked lazy, disinterested and ****. Thought Fletch oozed class in terms of movement and touch
I thought Whicks was lost out wide, he is not in any shape or form a winger, and never will be, we did not see either of our wide men get beyond the full backs in either half. We need pace down the flanks to open up teams. Bridcutt did well when he came on and looks a composed player under pressure, but Gus is a bit slow in making substitutions imo. Even so I am happy with a point but feel a decent team would have got all three today. We will struggle up to Xmas in my opinion thanks to another lop sided run of fixtures, we get a bloody raw deal in this respect season after season and if we are not in the bottom three by the turn of the year we will have done very well, so far so good.
I reckon Gus knows that and is set on staying out the bottom three till Christmas. He can then get Ellis and Conga on the recruitment trail!
At the match today, and the straw to clutch at was set pieces and Panti's kicking to Fletch. We tried a few neat moves from set pieces which didn't come off but looked clever. Second half, Fletch was hugging the left touch line, with Panti finding him for a flick back into the centre. If you could teach Wickham to do that with a Fletch in the middle it could be dangerous.
He was dreadful, couldn't pass, strolling around making no effort off the ball, his first touch was the worst I've seen since Lee Howey. My opinion like. I'm off to Squawka to check the facts
He's not being asked to be a winger. Réveillere and Vergini played bought the width today like they always do, Our front three played really close together today and Connor had spells on the left, right and centre today just fletch did.
If we could get £5m plus add ons (to protect us from him actually realising his potential elsewhere) in Jan I'd take it.
he should have played gomez in for the winner in the 2nd half, besides his s**te control that pass was miles off dont get me wrong, he put himself about, i just dont think he is the answer, would not bat an eyelid if we let him go in january, so long as we improve
My quote of the day from my Dad about Reveillere... "I thought he'd look older" I said, Dad he's my age not 60!
lol, he's mint, from his first minute in an safc shirt, credit where its due, cracking signing at that point in the season for nowt
I'm happy with a point away from home but if Poyet had more balls with the subs then we may of won it. Poyet's lack of ambition is starting to do my head in. Time to drop Wickham now.
