No not shocking not at all, some misplaced balls sure but others to guilty on both sides in a fast moving game.
Shame Smallbone was injured because I think the influence he had been having on the game shone through after he went off. From that moment Leicester had more space in midfield and more of the ball, which led to them getting at the back four more regularly. Still a good performance from the team as a whole, given the number of regulars who were missing. We miss Vestergaards passing from left to right. First half I was seeing KWP in acres of space on the corner of the Leicester box, but we had no one to hit the pass. The saves Schmeichel made were pretty much straightforward, all being about 3/4 feet off the ground, which is in the keepers comfort zone. Not disheartened by this performance against a full strength Leicester.
I was surprised how deep they were playing first half. It really didn't allow then to threaten until their goal
Unfortunately we didn't get him on the ball enough in the second half. When we did in the right position he nearly scored.
My name will be uttered in the same breath as Stokes and Ward-Prowse 2 skates scoring in Cup final wins!
I agree with Badger that Smallbone going off seemed to be quite a big turning point in terms of our attacking play.
Will respectfully disagree. I admire Stephens because he has to work hard to be where he is as he doesn't have a natural talent. To say he was shocking is a bit much.
Very pleasantly surprised by Small one. Never really rated him and thought he was excellent. We were noticeably poorer when he went off. Not sure why Long was put on, I think we should have had Valery on. Long did sweet FA. His time here has passed. Thought Diallo was unfortunate and good again. Won't slate Jack as he is what he is, but we are really missing Vestergard and his raking balls. Thought Stuey was very good. Finally not sure if this will be popular, but I think Forster saves the first goal with his huge frame
It really cheers me up to think that we now have the self belief to try and get a point rather than settle for a low score loss. Ok, no points but considering our spend over the last few years v the average in the PL being much lower, plus we had 'half' the team missing and we chase the game! Well done I say, and share with the team the disappointment they now feel as they tried so hard. Only a minor blip, not a set-back.
Oh silly me. I just peeked at Southampton Facebook. “Walcott seriously lacking in quality and composure. Every time he receives the ball you can sense the anxiety. We’re not a premier league attack without Danny.. impotent.” For goodness sake...
I don’t think any keeper saves the goal to be honest. It was like a rocket and right in that postage stamp. It really was a proper lash!
