When a woman calls a man sweet or cute it usually means in an ironic way that she would never sleep with him. Sven has form though...
Sven is neither sweet nor cute and, once you know he has built up shoes, any sex appeal he had is gone. He must have something I suppose, but it completely passes me by. Now, David Connelly when he stands on tippy toes to be hugged by team mates...that's cute.
Yes, but to be fair, Kasper Schmeichel isn't exactly his dad either, so won't need someone quite up to LeTiss' standards to beat him.
I'm with SaintJack. I always liked Leicester, and will again, but I cannot stand Sven. He is a blight on football, is living on past glories, and would drop your lot at a moment's whiff of more cash. He's a corrupting force, got no scruples, no loyalty, and no passion for the game beyond what he gets paid. I know that's how football has been going for a long while, and it is naive to expect otherwise, but he stands out among managers in not being able to hide his blatant chase for cash. Fine, we all live for payday, no problem with that, but we also then buckle down to the job at hand - he's I'm sure on Skype to someone on a yacht somewhere as we speak, wielding his influence and networking in search of his next club and massive signing on fee, where he'll then asset strip the usual players from Leicester. I wouldn't be surprised that if and when Gaddafi shows up, it's as Leicester's new owner!
Slightly harsh. He could have sent Notts County into huge administration but he decided not to take any pay from them. Doesn't stand out to me as a 'corrupting force' with 'no passion for the game'. Please point out one choice in his career where anyone else wouldn't have done the same.
If he was just bothered about money and his next job he wouldn't have signed for us. If he can't get us up with all the money we've got, his reputation will be rock bottom and negotiating a decent job would be very difficult. He could have easily gone to the MLS or taken a job like Bryan Robson (a true anti-football person) did, for more money, no pressure, better weather and an easy life. I'm not saying his life is hard now, but he has to achieve something here - whatever you say about him, no man wants his reputation ruined. Being backed by the millions he probably didn't expect the job to be as hard as it is, and even he admitted he would have joined without the money, but I wager one of the reasons he took the job was to rebuild his reputation. I don't know where you get the idea that he's not 'buckling down to the job at hand'.
The games in the past at Leicester (39 games) have been very tight affairs with the home team winning 2 â 1 as an average score in nearly half our encounters. Now, we see Saints as a very confident team, defensively, a very tight unit, scoring goals from attack and midfield, I'm going for a Saints win 1 â 3 Lambert, Do Prado and Lallana. âWe always win 3 1â
All I keep thinking about is would I rather listen to a 20 min post-match interview with Adkins or the snooze-machine Sven?
I was at the game at Filbert Street that got abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch (84? 85?). Was clear from before kick off that it was far too wet to play, even for those days when players and refs weren't as soft as they are now about Health & Safety etc.
That's the problem though, I think Sven sometimes gets branded as 'not being passionate about football' due to how he conducts his interviews. It's just the character he is, he's a laid back guy and that isn't going to change. Personally, I prefer Adkins approach of being high on fizzy pop and jelly babies 24/7 - But just because a manager has a different attitude/approach to the game doesn't mean they love it any more or less than another. You also don't know what a manager is like behind the scenes so to say all he cares about is the cash is inaccurate unless you have inside knowledge. I do have to agree with Emilio-****tio-Heskeynho though, Both Sven and Schteve McClaren have taken huge risks by taking up jobs in the Championship - which could destroy their reputation for good. The NPC is one of the most competitive league's in the world with thee biggest prize in the domestic football at the end of the rainbow. We all know anything can happen in this league, you only have to look at the past few years with the likes of Blackpool and Swansea getting promotion out of it after years of wallowing in the lower divisions. If Sven manages to blow it after spending £15m on a new squad (which is sure to rise before the end of the transfer window) then he'll be ****ed, to put it politely.
I was being tongue in cheek of course as regards Gaddafi and trying to negotiate his way out as we speak. That's a little too early, even for Sven. As it is too early to know how he will pan out at Leicester. Perhaps the Premiership offers weren't forthcoming (as they appeared not to be for McClaren), and so that explains why he has taken the next job down, with a team with bags of cash that he can realistically hope to be his ticket back to the top flight? If he would have joined Leicester without the money, is it just a coincidence that big money (or at least the initial illusion of, at Notts County) were a feature of his last three jobs? I've yet to see any real lasting results to support his reputation since he was heralded as England's saviour, I suppose, and the numerous scandals just suggest that he spends his time concentrating on other things, with the odd "shock" marquee signing (or attempted) chucked in every now and then to show his ambition. At least other allegedly dodgy characters (Redknapp, for example) show some results. I wish Leicester all the best, but I just feel his record doesn't bode too well - there always seems to be something that comes along to derail his projects sooner rather than later. Anyone worth their salt, while their reputation has any thin shreds of life left (and I don't put Sven at all in a group of managers with little reputation, definitely want to make that clear) would prefer, if they can get the money (which Sven definitely doesn't seem to have a problem doing), to stay doing it in a country with a top league (England, Spain etc.). He I imagine knows he can go to the MLS for a final payday at any point in the future. Robson and McClaren I feel fall into a different block of managers, which can be summed up as complete energy-sapping, motivation-draining grim reapers - a different proposition altogether. I may appear harsh, but I just feel its a reaction to this concept of him as a cheeky, lovable cult character who we have taken to our hearts. Glad he's not at Saints, but if he was, perhaps I would be forced also to try and find the positive side at the start of his tenure. As I said, I wish you all the best!
I never like to predict Saints will beat Leicester as my family of Leicester fans will always remind me of my prediction afterwards if I was wrong. All I know is that come 5.00.pm on Saturday either I will be phoning my brothers or they will be phoning me. They will both be at the game and if Saints win we will have been incredibly lucky and if we lose our team will have been absolutely rubbish and they will wonder how we managed to win our first 4 games. All I know is the fixture is usually a home win. I think Leicester have won once at our place in the last 40 years and our record at Leicester is not too good either although it has been a bit better in the past 10 years. All I will point out though is that if they beat us we will still be a good few points ahead of them. If we win, we will be out of sight.
We're breaking records all round so past form has no affect on present results. Fans must approach all games as if it's a clean slate. COYR
