Not to the same extent but Deja Vaux from another past excellent opportunity, i am of course thinking back to the team Grayson built that had so much promise, and with just a bit of investment from Bates, would have more than likely got us to the promised land a long time ago, however Bates wanted to do it on the cheap and the rest is history, and many a year was spent languishing in no mans land, just a mid table championship team, it couldn't happen again---------------could it
Wouldn't it be typical Leeds to beat villa then lose to Norwich!...... it's in our blood we've done that type of thing many times in the past, and if our shooting boots are of the same standard as recently we could well repeat the same. right that's the negative thoughts done, the performance was a lot better on Saturday and if we keep it at the same level I can see 6 points from the two upcoming home games and with that comes the belief from the players that they can salvage the situation
It’s so easy with hindsight to say where we’ve gone wrong but our PL signings have been pretty atrocious, some might come good but I doubt it. Harrison simply isn’t good enough for the PL, he puts in a good game every 8 matches, £15m wasted. Llorente started well, arguably our best defender at one stage but he has had a lot of weaknesses exposed this season and far to injury prone. On paper it should have been a huge bargain at £18m James isn’t worth £28m I still hope he comes good, surely a John Swift type signing would have been cheaper and better suited at the time. Rodrigo you can see he has some quality but he’s not any better than any of the others, definitely not worth £28m Robin Koch for £13m I’m on the fence, not a lot to spend but we rarely see him play CB two coaches are now putting Ayling at CB instead Firpo he really hasn’t settled £13m plus add ons, he isn’t better than Alioski and I was one of those screaming we needed better. Raphinha is the saving grace but recently you’re left wondering is he going to ever hit form again. I think Radz can hold his head high with the amount he has spent, I just think it’s not been wisely spent
Yep your right we have spent, but poorly spent, and the one thing i would like to know is who's decision was it to spend out that kind of money on not actually improving the team, not radz (as i understand he is no football expert) he would have just given the nodd but who ? Orta i guess then finally sanctioned by Bielsa, so on that front they seemed to have made some very poor expensive monetary decisions, that could ultimately cost us.
My apologies also, I get a bit pedantic when things don’t go right I’ll try and be more positive in future.
I understand where emu’s frustration is coming from… my only caveat to it, is misplaced passes etc are often a formation/understanding thing as much as individual culpability - and all sides make them. I saw Leicester make far more simpleb errors than us on Saturday, are their players sh*t or was it our press that hurried them? Personally i think its a combination - individuals not quite having the quality for this level - mb and jm both playing a high tempo high risk game - fans notice their own sides mess ups more than their opponents. In terms of our xg for and against we are a little below where we 'should' be in the table, scored less than expected, conceded more than expected. Suggests we've lacked quality and maybe a bit of luck at both ends of the pitch. In our first year in the prem we dominated possession stats, this year we haven't which does suggest sloppier play as our style hasn't changed. Suspect a lot of this is down to missing kp, who sets tempo and maybe missing Paddy as a target.
I’ve always had the impression Bielsa names a position, Orta finds three targets and Bielsa looks them over before saying which one or none. The two I just can’t get my head around is Harrison and James, surely just one or the other and add a CM instead. Guess with the new guy it doesn’t matter now, if the 49ers take control will they bring in their own guy, either way will Jesse have the same kind of final say or will it be entirely down to the DOF?
It's really the lack of money we need a multi billionaire not just 4.3 billion , 100 billion, if newcastle can do it I'm sure leeds can get one , thought leeds played well against Leicester and our defence was ok , just got undone by the old 1, 2. Luckily all the other bottom 5 lost so no change , fingers crossed by Monday next week leeds will be 6 points better off.
My unswerving belief is that the Yanks are in charge right now. Radz is a mere puppet now. The Yanks got rid of Bielsa & had JM on speed dial for quite some time. Radz only made the announcement, claiming it was his decision. Absolute tosh. What a lot of people don't realise is that the Yanks are not investing in the club, per se, they're simply buying blocks of Radz's shares. The only person who benefits from the Yanks 'takeover' is Radz. He trousers every penny. Some people seem to have it in their head that the Yanks are providing ADDITIONAL funds. They're not, it's just a change of ownership in blocks of shares. Our 'worth' does not increase by these transfers of share ownership.
The difference is we now have 2 owners to provide funds and Radz has replenished pockets. Radz all on his own was clearly running out of dosh.
Yip, agree. But just to be clear, it can only be in the form of loans, some of which can be converted to stock (can't remember the rules).
Even if your right on that , the 49ers ( yanks ) as you say , they will have to buy players and they cannot do that with shares so they will be investing in the players and if Leeds utd survive this season and then move higher with new players next season then we are making progress , I would prefer a multi billionaire just like newcastle got but let's see what 49ers can do , their value is only 4.3 billion usd if we follow the Leicester model we can get into Europe if we survive this season at least.
Have you got proof it will be loans as I cannot see it , 49ers have a deal to buy leeds by january 2024 if we go out of premiership it probably wont happen so it's vital we stay in premiership , but I cannot see any mention of loans and to be honest I don't think red would want that to sell leeds loaned to the hilt and I don't think FA would allow it.
Good let's sell Rodrigo then in the summer , some mug might pay 20m then roberts in summer might get 10m Cooper 5m that's 35m which won't even get us a good player , so presuming we keep raphinia and philipps we would spend some money from the 200m for staying in premier league
