Hear hear - What some people find difficulty grasping is that it's not so much what is posted, but the intention in which it is posted - Whilst we all are rightly proud of the diversity our great city has to offer - The Hull Leiscesterstan comment is intended to be derogatory because They hold racist views, that in their mind makes Leicester a worse place because of our diversity - Hence it is a racist comment, it does offend people and it should not be tolerated
Can I just remind you again, that Proud posted the word Leicesteristan, you would not be having this debate had he not done so. Also, I'd just like to point out, due to an accusation being made on the threads Proud closed, that it's not a term I use. Can I also point out, that it's used by some other posters to wind you lot up, not because they're racist, just because they know it irritates you. And for the record, I find anyone calling Hull a ****hole and referring to us as Dull ****ty, equally offensive, though I'm not going to piss my pants over it.
One of the most stupid things posted today. That's like me saying 'Black people are idiots'. Not because its racist, but because it irritates them. I'll ask you for the last time. Stop trying to have the last word. You know it's wrong. Be the big man and leave.
Proud ... humour is very much a matter of personal taste ... on the general point about being a mod - I agree - but I did not see OLM use he phrase Leicesteristan on any of the threads.... Personally I found his one liner funny ... if I had written it myself on someone else's board in he same conext I would have been grinning ... as I suspect the majoriy of us would ...
I'm sure this comment will be removed () but I really want to know what's offensive about Leicesteristan, and why Gonads thinks using that name is the same as calling black people thick?
Leicesteristan is a derogative term aimed to anger our Asian population. It's not at all hard to grasp. But anyway, you won't get to call us it much more. I've asked for you to be banned
I know you're not the sharpest tool. But let me explain it for you nice and slowly You can't say something completely racist and then say 'its not racist, I just do it to irritate them'.
Danger - I fully agree with you in that I also believe that it is about the intent - but where I may diverge is that sometimes people will make comments whilst not necessarily subscribing to a negative prejudice doctrine ... hence I believe some Hull fans may use hat term to get a rise from us rather than because they are actually racist ... e.g AKCJ on another thread wrote "If so then you're just as bad as that **** with his gay scooters." ... now I suspect you know who he is referring to (you may even be smiling).... now do I hink that AKCJ is intrinsically homophobic because of his comments? ... no of course not - he lost his rag (as we all do from time to time) and let fly with somehing that he felt would hit back at someone he was corresponding with.... Now I have no time for anyone with irrational prejudices of any kind .. but it is dangerous to label people too readily
I'll assume that's an attempt at irony. I wouldn't dream of doing so, though I would dispute what you seem to think constitutes 'something completely racist'.
