Is it time for the legend that is Leon Briton to step forward and let another manager realise how good he is.
Rated or not we've gone from a glut of average midfield players to a dirty. Out Fer, Fulton, Sanches, Mesa and Amat who can play in front of a back four. Britton seems to be resign to being off the field. Other than the loaned out, King, no under 23's up to snuff. Olsson carrying an injury. Ki one tackle away from a few weeks in Korea, Carroll .. well Carroll. Bony out for the season. Andre Ayew? Anyone's guess. Abraham? Can we convert Mawson to target man up front? Too much time spent running after strikers in January and not enough on defence & midfield.
In all honesty Leon has looked his age in his last couple of games. These injuries have definitely changed the mindset for Tuesday. Introduce more under 23s to see how they do? Play players who are unlikely to have two games a week left in them but might be need on Saturday? Play a full side at half place to for continuity? Hopefully we will get some protection from the ref. Anyone know why we played in red?
I agree that he can no longer play 90 minutes week in, week out, however, I'd argue that he is till a far better option for the last 15-20 minutes of a game than Carroll. People thought Dyer was past it - look at him now. Everytime people say Leon is past it etc, he proves us all wrong.
http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/statistik/vertragslosespieler anyone there anyone fancies, what about Kirchhoff, defensive midfielder.
Agree with the first part and would love Leon to be one of our saviour again but I don't see it happening. He has 5 years on Dyer ... a massive difference especially in the 30s. Dyer was just not playing and was picking up injuries when he did. (And some people don't know what they are talking about ... unlike me )
Why? we got Leon if we need a defensive midfielder which, imo, we don't anyway, if we are going to continue playing a back five. In midfield we got Ki, Clucas, Carroll, King (her again), Narsingh and Dyer to compete for 3 slots, with the Ayew boys ahead of them, Shame about Fer and Bony but if I can follow our leader Dr Carlos and use an analogy. Losing Fer and Bony for the rest of the season is like a sting from a bee, not a bite from a Cobra.
A few on there worth looking at Florian Marange or Hrvoje Milic as left back cover and Samir Nasri on left wing. No going to be first call players for us but as cover they would be worth considering.
He is younger, Fitter and will play long after Leon is gone.....Leon needs to gain more experience if he wants to manage the Swans one day....He should get a game before he calls it a day though even if it is as a sub.....
He might be younger, fitter and play a long time after Leon finishes - but that means jack **** as Leon is a far superior player to Carroll, even today at his age. In an ideal scenario, we stay up, Stoke get relegated and we offer Stoke cash plus Carroll for Joe.
