They've risen through the leagues quite quickly. I think they are well funded and could be a League side in the not too distant future. Salford City will buy their way into League 2 first. They are paying wages that SPL teams can't compete with. They signed Adam Rooney from Aberdeen!

Indeed we did ... and the vast majority of current fans won't forget where we came from, or just how lucky we were - because the core fan base also lived through the very dark days which culminated in administration and relegation to League 1 ... and hence the reaction / outpouring of feelings to the man's passing.

Before he took us over we had only just come out of administration and owed a lot of people a lot of money.

First he gave the club interest free loans (millions) to settle its' debts
He then went and purchased the ground back from a US Pensions Fund and gifted it back to the club
Next he converted the interest free loans to equity (shares) in the club - a big risk to him if he ever wanted his money back
He then backed the various managers with levels of transfer funds never before seen at the club
He's also poured funds into the academy, giving us a great basis for growing our own talent - Ben Chilwell and Harvey Barnes are products

Let's face it - I doubt there are any football fans out there who wouldn't want to see someone come into their club and give it that level of support and commitment?

They are expecting over 20,000 to join a march to the ground before the Burnley game on Saturday to show their appreciation of his contribution to the club (and city) ... some will always doubt his motives, I'm sure ... but I really can't, for the life of me, see what he thought he could gain from that level of investment into a club of our size and standing other than a sense of excitement and satisfaction in competing in the Premier League ... and, as such, he has my eternal gratitude <ok>

All those words and you still missed my point. Why is L1 dark days for a club, I much prefer that to the Premiership?

The Prem seems to be getting poorer by each season. The excitment has dwindled.

Guessing he means that it was the lowest point we had been league wise in our history. In terms of that league and that season once we were there I thought it was great, really refreshing and some great clubs
