A decent line up of some of our old heroes, including [personal favourites]: Bob Bolder John Bumstead John Humphrey Sasa Ilic Steve Brown Kinsella Kish Leaburn [he might even score] Minto Nelse Colin Walsh Tickets are cheap at a tenner, I heard a rumour that only 5,000 have been sold Anyone going?
I think they've sold a few more than 5,000 tickets ... I read 20,000 somewhere, but I cannot recall where. It's for charity, so I hope it's a great success. I'll be in SE7 on Saturday visiting my folks, but I won't be back for Sunday. As I said though, I hope it is a success and enjoyable for anybody who does go along. It would be great to see a few legends and top players from our past again. It's only a pity this 25th anniversary has to be celebrated with things in the state they are in. I will be disappointed but not surprised if I hear any of the current regime elite (Meire in particular) try to bask in the reflected glory, or the good will that Charlton fans have towards great players and managers from our past. Players and managers who earned that enduring respect. If I hear about any speeches thanking RD or KM for anything I may well throw up.
Rumours that only 1,000 tickets sold for the Legends game. As my diminutive train companion put it this morning.. "who wants to see a bunch of old gits with beer guts jogging around the pitch?"
When he made his last appearance for us at Anfield, he came on as sub to "You're just a fat Eddie Murphy", and that was from the Charlton end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wait until you see PG these days - fans are in for a shock. I'm not sure he should be allowed to play on health and safety grounds.
I understand now that only two stands will be open for the Legends United game. Somebody told me today about 4,000 tickets sold (I don't have a clue where I got that earlier figure of 20,000 from). I imagined such a unique chance to see some players and managers from the past might attract more interest. I guess the new breed of Regime-friendly young fans the Club is busy attracting don't care much about Charlton's past.
Ben Hayes is playing in the Legends Game "Best Supporter of Last 25 years" Hope the Trust ordered some XXXL shirts.
