Sorry, I'm calling this already. Which defenders prior to Mbengue would you pay money to watch?
My shouts- Bob Hazell, Steve Wicks, Terry Fenwick, Paul Parker

My own favourites were Alan McDonald, David Bardsley, Glenn Roeder and Clive Wilson.

I went to Macca's testimonial in Belfast. I felt privilegded to be there. He was such a nice lad. Brought me in to meet the players in the dressing room when he was assistant to Gary Waddock after I met him in Healthrow one day post match. He was married to a girl from Dublin.

Apart from the ones already mentioned
I always thought Ian Dawes and Warren Niell were decent full backs.
Clive Wilson wasn't bad either.
Dawes/Neill & Bardsley/Wilson are the best fullback combinations I've seen at Rangers.

Wilson also played a season Right Back with Brevett on the left near the end of his spell with us.

I can't think of any better since.

Bignot, Tyrell Forbes and Danny Simpson also put decent shifts in albiet at lower levels.

A defender beyond legendary, in the realm of mythical….Ron Abbott. A mighty 46 appearances in eight seasons.
