Got a letter through from a private company staying I stayed in Lidl car park 3 mins over the time of 2 hours and charging me £90 It says that if I don't pay they MAY pass my details onto a debt collector or take legal proceedings. We can appeal and use the shop all the time and could produce bank statements showing this but technically they are right. BUT what right do they have to do this and can they send my information to a debt collector which may affect my credit rating?
They have the right because their car park is private property, and no doubt there will be signs upon entry stating that parking on site is conditional on a maximum stay of 2 hours. You could appeal it, and if it is literally 3 minutes, you would probably win, and the court would then make the parking firm withdraw any complaint that may have affected your credit score. Still begs the question though, why the **** did it take you more than 2 hours to do your shopping? Lidl stores arent even that big!
No sympathy for ya then. They provide (presumably) free parking for their customers, and you parked there and shopped elsewhere. Hope they throw the book at ya
No expert ... but used to work with a lad who is now a duty solicitor in Manchester ...( he gets called out at all times of the night to go and represent newly arrested scrotes) ... he told me that those kind of car parking charges are hard to legally enforce ... but might depend on who actually owns the car park ... I also remember hearing that you are supposed to get a 10 min 'grace period' after the expiration ticket time? ...
Don't reply to them. The second you do that it's a sign that you've accepted it. Ignore the stupid bastards. Sounds like they've invoiced you, not fined you. Don't reply to them!
Be very careful. Parkingeye do some of the car parks near me and people used to say ignore but in reality they take people to court and your lose.
Go back and say you have no intention of paying as you were shopping in the store and only went over their allotted time by 3 minutes. cc in Lidl customer service dept and tell them you use their store all the time as they could check if they chose to via their overly officious parking contractors
gonzo don't reply 2them>>>>>is the letter from the court in Northampton..........if so give me a pm and I`ll send you a letter where they have no power over you>>>>you caused no loss and that's the end of it>>>>>check out the legislation.gov.uk.....bill of rights 1689 on fines and forfeitures.........halsburys law on courts of administration. in laymans terms this isn't a official court letter>>>>>why?.......because magistrates only have power if you let them gain power over you. like I say don't contact them until you get in touch with me......these people are fraudsters using a corrupt illegal process.
I’d send a copy of the letter to Lidl’s UK head office, along with a complaint about their over officious and greedy parking contractors. If you want to go the whole hog say you’ll shop elsewhere if that’s their attitude to their regular customers.
To be honest, I am shocked that the DVLA hands over information to these private companies. Any old firm can just rock up with your license plate number and request your name and address? It's a little irresponsible
they shouldn't do it dude that's a fact>>>>>>>>>>same with film or music downloading vultures(I know ive been there and dealt with them)...........internet providers handing out details 2 a shadowy company who paid the magistrates for a peace of old waste paper..................what you got 2 have is a person who takes you on in the courts and not no company or building....I can guarantee most on here that the letters are not even written in English>>>>it will be either latin or dog latin.....both of which shows the claimant is just hoping you fold and pay up without knowing the true laws of the island.
don't worry gonzo will know what im on about>>>>>its a local ting other than that>>>>>>>>suns out and im off for some social smoking...............
I spoke to the manager in Lidl earlier, he said ignore it, also said he's had about 8 of them as staff park there. He said that I may get another letter but that's it.
I got a big legal letter about downloading films many years ago, I sent them a letter simply saying go **** herself and didn't hear anymore. Did stop me downloading though.
Checked the timescale seller and is 33 mins over but **** it. I'm going to ignore in the first instance.
