He's your sort of player, rapid as anything great on the ball who makes things happen. He's also about as both footed as it gets and strong too. Perfect for the English game, I'd love him at Spurs even if he is a bit of a diver.
He would also cost a lot considering some big clubs have been looking at him which will most defiantly put his fee up
Affellay? Think he's still injured but out of favour at Barca and a good player, LW isnt really a priority for you so might want to save the bulk of the budget for more important players. All of these replies are good options though. RE Adriano - he's second choice left back at Barca now, might be tempted by more regular football on the wing.
Affellay would be a great addition and has played with RVP before so that could be a good partnership upfront
I was thinking one of the Fulham pair, Dembele or Dempsey. Plus Dempsey is a monster in the air, gives us another dimension to our attack.
Dempsey is an interesting idea. Here is his excellent goal and an excellent assist from Saturday: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xn2anf_fulham-bolton-2-0_sport?start=29#from=embediframe However, I'd hate to see him leave Fulham. He is going to be a legend there. Podolski would be perfect. He's fast. He plays left-sided winger for the Germans and striker for Cologne. His shot is a rocket, too.
Goetze is quite slow though isn't he? He would have to play centrally. And if you bought Cavani wouldn't you rather play a 4-2-2-2? If Wenger wants to spend, a player like Hulk, Hazard or maybe Kagawa would fit like a glove. Exactly what we need at Liverpool too... I hear Stewart Downing is available for say, £20m?
There's no way Cavani would join us to be a back-up! However, if we're talking silly money to break the bank then I'd certainly upgrade our fullback options (specifically LB) even if it means saying goodbye to Gibbs. I'd even be tempted to get a decent RB who can fill in now and later rwho can push Sagna (if we're reeeally talking silly money). My make believe, never going to happen (but in my eyes quite feasible) team: .........................Chezzers.......................... Sagna......Koscielny........Vermaelen......Baines ...........................Song............................. ................Arteta.............Wilshere.............. ...Walcott....................................Podolski... ............................RVP.............................. Subs: Almunia, Mert, Santos, Gervinho, Ramsey, Oxocube etc You could probably do this for 30m which I believe we must have floating about somewhere. I'd also get rid of further dead wood to free up wages and get lose some of that foul stench of mediocrity they bring with them.
Fellas, keep throwing names out there if it makes you feel better but I'm sure AW buys no-one in Jan. Only 2 things I think will change that; if Sagna is still struggling AW might look for additional FB cover, and if he finds anyone mug enough to take Arshavin off our hands he may buy a replacement. There's Park, Benayoun, Oxo, Frimpong, Rosicky and Coquelin who have featured infrequently until now....
I think Wenger will invest TBH. Expect to see the back of Chamakh and Bendtner. This means we'll have to invest in a new striker or at least a loan deal with someone.
ZaGooner - I agree that a couple are on the radar for the exit door and if he manages to secure deals away for one or two then he should replace. The favs for the door are Chamakh, Arshavin and Bendtner, all attacking options and with ACN upcoming he'll probably keep at least one of them with Chamakh looking likely to stay.
it'll be down to who wants to buy for our price. Ten quid and a couple of cars to wreck buys Nicklas. A gallon of vodka and some warm gloves gets Arsh. Chamakh will stay.
He's not slow at all. He's also pretty tricky, and can dart into the box. Kagawa would be a good call except he may struggle with the physical nature, he already gets injured in the Bundesliga. Hulk would cost a bomb. Hazard would cost less but the interest in him, and his preference for Real Madrid, tells me we won't get him. I think that if Arsenal got Cavani our formation would change depending on the game, or if we're chasing one. Would make us twice as versatile.
He's agile, sure, but he's not exactly Walcott, or even Downing. Did I say Downing? Why don't you bid for Downing? He's really good. Downing.
