Posted it on the short club news as well, but just seen you ask.... Dyche has said the arrival of Dickinson doesn't mean James won't be signed up either. James is more of a 'development' and not ready for the Championship yet! http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...ck_could_still_earn_Watford_contract/ref=twt/
He's free and would probably take £400 a week, which a League Two or decent Conference side could afford to pay the bulk of if we were to loan him out. If Dyche thinks he might one day be good enough, it's definitely worth a go. Four times out of five it won't work out, but if you give out five £400 contracts and end up with one Jay DeMerit, Kevin Phillips or Andy Hessenthaler, it's money well spent.
In which case he'd be better off signing for a League Two side - they generally pay over twice that! If we're going to sign him, I'd hope that we at least give him a decent wage rather than be seen as a bunch of cheapskates.
£21k a year + bonuses + being near certain to play at least a few matches of professional football (either in the Championship, the League Cup, or in the divisions I have mentioned) is perfectly reasonable for a 20-something who as far as I can tell has never played above the ninth level of English football.
