“It’s difficult because we need to get a second opinion on that shoulder, because we’re not sure if it popped out again today. We may have to look into the open market again for defenders.”

Given what we've seen over the years in the "free market" I think I'd rather look for solutions that already exist within the club

Flanagan or Doyle? Worth a go at LB?
Dyce/Newall/Taylor from the u23s?
Dan Neil :emoticon-0145-shake

If there are options out there than no club in L1 or L2 was prepared to take in the summer I'm not sure how I feel about us recruiting them now

Did we learn nothing from Kyle Lafferty, Calum McFadzean and Danny Graham?

What happens now with 3 full backs on the shelf until January at least? Do we sign a free agent? Going to be an interesting one

Not sure if we can sign a new player, loan or otherwise just for a few months? A loan from a Premier club would be good.

Goalkeeper you can, I believe not sure about outfield positions.

09 needs an operation to fix his shoulder?

Leeds have had loads of injuries, they were using their under 21s as subs yesterday!

You can only sign players who are unattached and only if they were unattached before the window closed. You couldn't sign a player released by a PL club yesterday for example (well you could but he couldn't play until Jan 1st)

Reading have just signed Andy Carroll until January, I’m think you can if it’s a free agent

We could potentially play a back 3 and use 2 of Winchester, O'Nien and Gooch as wing backs. None of them left footed so wouldn't ideal but it could work

Hoffmann
Flanagan Wright Doyle
O'Nien Winchester Neil Gooch
Embleton
Broadhead Stewart
Means there is no place for McGeady but I wonder if we are getting to the point where we use him as an impact sub

This for me as well, think LJ will be forced into this 3 at the back tomorrow, just like Reid playing the younguns at the back and we took off

Looked like Dyce played well against Southampton and will have impressed Johnson etc, but he was on the left wing not LB so dunno what the plan is for him.

Agreed. When I’ve watched him at LB he hasn’t looked positionally aware. Struggled imo. Looks good LW though

This looks good to me strong defense and midfield
Front three can be shuffled with McGeady Dajaku and Pritchard to give us different options.

Winchester might not hack it in midfield but he did well for 10 mins on Saturday and we need to try something different.

Could turn out to be a canny player, a winger who can defend a bit would be useful. First time I saw him his size and speed were obvious but watching the Southampton highlights he can play a bit too, looked a class above.

The lad hasn’t been playing well but was decent yesterday. He did allow them too much space at times particularly first half but he put a brilliant cross in for Stewart’s chance and ultimately got his goal.
Undoubtedly he’s playing in a number of positions that aren’t natural to him once again but has my respect and admiration for applying himself and playing through the pain.
He really should be having that op sooner rather than later but that’s likely to be January.
Didn't 09 play (poorly) as LB a couple of times last season?
