They seem to be the pairing we were looking for from Johnson and Kilkenny but never really got. Brown sits back and plays the simple passes, think he will save us a few goals this year without ever really getting the plaudits, and Clayton runs the game from midfield, not to mention turning up to make a tackle wherever Bradford had the ball, his performance would have been a 10 had he got a goal. There was a period of passing once we'd won the game where every second player on the ball was Clayton.
Must not get over excited about anyones performance, this was league two Bradford, we still allowed them to take the lead twice and we never managed a single shot on target in the first half. An improvement on Saturday but nowhere near good enough to compete with 50% of Championship teams so fingers crossed we can use it as a spring board
Paynter has confidence. What he lacks is skill. Much better putting McCormack out and letting him try get some confidence back, because he at least has skill. And by scoring that goal, hopefully he'll have stopped the rot.
