    ok back on air.

the shrews team for tomorrow are expected to be=

    weale (the cat)

    purdie-grandison-hector-jacobson

    taylor- richards (c)-summerfield-wright

    gornell-morgan

    manager mr graham turner

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

we fear nobody but respect greatness. we have been practising penalty taking all week in case. i suspect the result may not be in doubt, but leeds fans can hope. our chairman loves vintage port, but is bringing a bottle of co-op special reserve lithuanian sparkling port to celebrate with masterbates if he shows up. we understand he has shaved his head to attend this prestige game in disguise. may the best team win. well done shrews and please ensure your pies are hot.

funny that masterbates means w*nker, no i suppose its not that funny.

sheepshaggers bite your bums, especially leeds utd players!

life can be boring with all singing the same tune. i may be boring but at least your boards have ceased to be moribund. i promise to leave you alone tomorrow, unless your season needs a bit of a pep up. unlikely though

Stone me (as a long lamented comic might say), has that centuries old joke only just arrived at the frozen north.

If the ref is on our side tomorrow, it could end up 4-0 to Shrewsbury. Unfortunately he was not on our side at Pride Park in the first round last year when it could have been 6-0 to us at half time.

How you lot must yearn for the silky football skills of Hunter, Reaney, Charlton etc of yesteryear.

Here we go folks, not long to go....

Shrews fans, whats yer team news???

    Btw Leeds fan.......

Leeds United have signed El Hadji Diouf on a non-contract basis.
The 31-year-old Senegalese international trained with the club this week and his signing was confirmed ahead of Saturday's Capital One Cup clash with Shrewsbury Town at Elland Road.

Not sure if he will have been signed up in time to be able to play today. I think there are specific rules on eligibility and timing of letting the FA know who your available squad to choose from is, but I don't know the ins and outs. Maybe someone else does?

The one surprise for me is Drury. He has not really featured as a starter in pre-season and I was thinking that maybe Warnock had coolled on him. Quite happy Green is not starting - he looked out of sorts pre-season

edit: just seen the actual team from the OS - not sure where ellandback got his team from

Drury is not in the first 11, nor Lees, Byram plays instead, so does Green :(

Leeds: Kenny, Byram, Peltier, Pearce, White, Green, Austin, Norris, Varney, McCormack, Becchio.

Subs: Ashdown, Drury, Kisnorbo, Brown, Gray, Diouf, Poleon.

3-0 to us. We should't let in any goals with our defenders against the shrews.

I'm sorry Elmo, but if you can look t that team and really still think we have a chance of promotion you're deluding yourself.

Think Drury will be just a squad player, plus, I think he can play anywhere in defence

    I've been deluded for a long time Simon. <ok> It's the med's.

I don't believe that team has promotion in it - never have and don't think I ever suggested it did (unless I was trying to wind someone up). I do believe it has "solidity" and mid-table written all over it, but with one or two very good loan signings to provide pace and creativity, it could be transformed. Which is what I have always said.

What it does not suggest to me is a relegation battle.

But the real plus of that team is that I don't expect it to attract spectators nor amass points to push spectators through the door. So I am hoping that the main benefit of this team is that it produces the financial downfall of Bates forcing him to sell up this year.

Which, in a nutshell, is why I am optimistic. Abslutely nothing to do with getting promoted <ok>

I'd like to think we won't concede with our new look defensive outlook. I'm gonna go 2-0 McCormack and Varney

Didn't realise the Voles's manager is Graham Turner. He's a man with some real history in english football.
