I reckon Naby and Thiago can rotate down the left side, and Elliot and Hendo have the right side. As we saw yesterday, we had such balance to the midfield and it was the first time when we really controlled the midfield through technique and class. In terms of our strongest side (i.e. if we had to plck 3 midfielders to play the CL final), I would say Fabinho and Thiago should definitely be starters, and Hendo will most likely be the third.
the inconsistency from pawson was hilarious. he was waving guys to get up left and right but then booked a leeds player for a pro foul pull back and immediately booked fabinho to level it up despite it being his first tackle. he then let mane away with a dive and gave a free but then waves off several other actual frees. he only sent off their lad cos the var lads were in his ear. finally he failed to do anything about an identical dive in on mane form behind that didn't result in injury.
Agree with that. Thiago fab Hendo would def be first 3 but it’s nice that we have/had options for rotation. Still can’t work out Keita. Needs to really make an impact on games when he comes on or gets the rare start as clearly talent in there but just not showing it yet.
its not even a question mate. kieta will only get games where he is resting the others. same for milner, same for jones. its a good job we are so well covered for CMS. shame we have to use ox as a CF option given we have so few options.
I had a quick browse on the Leeds board and nothing sums up football more than both sets of fans thinking the ref was poor but both sets thinking he was favouring the other side Not sure other than the red card what Leeds can moan about. All the bookings were mailed on pull backs after being turned. Other than that don’t think was anything too controversial either way.
Yeah, in general it was just more of this waving at stuff that encourages more holding and pulling. Yet if someone, in our case mane, throws himself they still get the free. Grealish will have a field day in this. Mane got one free that was a pure flop and another when he was fouled but threw himself down which the Leeds fans went mad at On the other side salah flopped and got no free at all and his reward for actually standing up and getting mauled was to be blown up when he was away. It's that lack of consistency that drive people mad.
I have to say, that was one of the best matches I've seen from us and a lot of it stemmed from our midfield. It had the perfect balance and what should have been a fast and frenetic game (which suits Leeds), we controlled and set the tempo. Working the gaps, creating the space, passing in between the lines. Mo and Mane absolutely terrorised their defence - Mo was pretty much perfect whilst Mane was electric but his finishing let him down. Trent gets another assist (shock!). One last thing to point, Matip and VVD are one of the best defensive partnerships in the game. We've all said in the past how important they are to us defensively, but they add so much to our attack as well.
No. It was the sort of tackle you might see a few times in any game. It is from behind, though, which does make it more dangerous.

Keita played on the left side of midfield this season and played pretty well. He and Thiago will hold that side down. Without Elliot, we will need Jones/Milner to provide cover for Hendo because he will pick up injuries if he is overplayed. I'd say Ox is now an option for the front 3 and not midfield anymore.
Yeah I heard that at the time and I just dont buy it. If you are going to then get it done cos its ot really much else he can do bar wave medics on. For keita to come in you have to shift thiago over. I'm bot for repeating the disastrous real Madrid game with our baby on the right. Keita is an lcm at best. So the question is simply who is better naby or henderson. Simple as and the answer midweek is firmly and unequivocally henderson.
Keep Naby on the left - that's where he's best. Thiago can rotate with Naby on that side (thiago being the number 1 choice), but Thiago can also play on the right side if needs be. Hendo has to play on the right. Other than Fabinho, the other 2 spots need to be rotated to keep them fresh and prevent injuries.
