@LeedsLover you keep saying Phillips was second choice behind Forshaw and it has been pointed out time and time again that you were wrong. Even if we pretend you were right then Phillips is the number one choice at DM and nobody in the team does it better, I don't believe you understand the position if I am being honest
You've hit the nail right on the head, Rich. His diatribes, above, clearly display in the most detailed fashion that he hasn't got a clue what's required of the position. The fact that he has a hard-on for Forshaw attacking in the DM position shows so very, very clearly that he cannot separate the DM & box-to-box roles. His salivation seems to overlook the fact that the Bielsaball DM is an incredibly disciplined position, yet Forshaw plays it with in most terribly undisciplined way. Consistently. (Tbf, this would be largely acceptable for a conventional DM, especially in a 4-2-3-1, but most certainly not in Bielsaball). Personally, I'd use McCalmont rather than Forshaw as KP's backup, but I see that Bielsa has continued his development by playing him elsewhere in MF for now, so clearly he's got a bit to go.
I do, and he ain't very good at it. Forshaw was first choice till he got injured, I showed you that before.
Impossible, you couldn't have shown that - because it didn't happen, other in your own wee world. Have a wee check & see how many times Forshaw has played DM when KP was available (other then when KP was required as CB). I believe the answer is once - after he came back from a 3 game suspension. It's not clear why Forshaw was favoured for the one, single game, but it could easily have been Bielsa wanting continuity, considering KP ring-rusty, a knock - myriad reasons. Whatever it was, it was for one game. You really have a psychotic bee in your bonnet, haven't you? I've joked before about you getting back on your meds. I now regret that, as it's not funny when it's true.
Bielsa does rate forshaw. But it was injury to forshaw that gave klich his chance. And klich’s performances made it hard for forshaw to get back in the side. This year he’s accommodating all three. He’s on record as saying no-one else in the squad can do the job he asks Phillips to do.
@LeedsLover for the record I haven't a favourite Leeds player in this team. In 10 years time if someone said name your favourite player from 2019/20 who helped us gain promotion I wouldn't have one as I see them as all important. Under Bielsa they all have a roll to play, some are missed more than others but those who come in do so and they do a decent job. At present I feel Pablo and Alioski are a little off form, I wouldn't want to see them dumped and forgotten, they will both come good again. I can see what Bamford brings to the team and I can see where he is lacking but when he misses a shot some act like he did so intentionally Harrison started this season on fire, he gets subbed by a £15m man a couple of times and you can't wait to bite into him yet Pablo plays two bad games and it is fine. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the entire footballing world can see what Phillips brings to the team, coaches continue to select him, ex pros pick him for a team of the season, TV pundits rave on about him yet week after week you slate him, you ask what he brings to the team and you ignore all the experts. Phillips is the best in his roll, I wouldn't want to see him played more attacking in Klich or Pablos position though, I wouldn't want to see him played at 10 he is no more important than the other 10 players but he is more important in the DM position than anyone else we have in the style of play that Bielsa has us playing.
Rich, time to chill & realise that Captain Jackboot knows best. He was a goalie, after all! Perhaps if we speak nicely to him, he could sort out this Bielsa impostor?
Forshaw was picked over Phillips beginning of last season. Forshaw got injured and Phillips come in. Klich started the season of 2018/2019, he also played in friendlies.
When did Pablo drop his form a bit, was it when Forshaw got injured? One coach selects Phillips........Forshaw is better at the CM/DM position than Phillips, Forshaw attacks the opposing defences, Phillips does not. Phillips goes awol sometimes, gets caught out of position, and lets the ball go through his legs. He's got no pace for where he plays. Bielsa made the choice to push Forshaw forward cos of his driving at defences, and believed it would benefit the team, he was right. I remember Phillips played for the U23's, you praised him to high heaven, even said he was MOM, yet the video I posted proved otherwise. He went awol quite a bit and was out of position. Harrison is a let down, he's greedy and self centered. Tries to dribble around everyone, including himself, and then loses the ball or his crosses are woefull. I guarantee you, when another player replaces Phillips at CM/DM, he'll show Phillips up, and you'll see the difference if you haven't married him beforehand, I guarantee that.
Bielsa says a lot of things, he also doesn't say a lot things to cameras. Also bare in mind, Bielsa likes a small squad. Klich doesn't play CM or DM, Klich plays as an AM, plus can play RM. An article says Klich's main position is CM, but I believe that is the old CM where Klich pushed forward and made passes through defenders, which is why he was nicknamed the penetrator. I think you may have been reading this article, or a similar one. Whoever wrote it got Klich's position wrong. https://throughitalltogether.sbnati...am-forshaw-to-have-surgery-on-ligament-injury
Klich has turned out for us (including pre season friendles) in all of the positions mentioned and even CB! Any decent supporter would know that. Versatile he most certainly is.
When was Forshaw picked ahead of Philips at the beginning of last season ? Pre Season Games July 2018 17 july Forest Green both Forshaw and Philips started (Klich not selected) Starting line up consisted of 9 players who started first game against Stoke, Forshaw and Dallas were the 2 to miss out) 19 july York neither played (Klich Clarke and Shackleton were only selections that got significant game time in season proper) 21 july Osset Town neither played (Leif Davis was only selection to make first team in season proper) 22 july 2018 Southend both started (Klich not selected, 8 of starting line up, started against Stoke, Forshaw, De Bock and Dallas were the 3 to miss out) 24 July Oxford neither played (Klich, Shackleton, Baker and Clarke were only starting selections to get significant game time during season) 26 july 2018 Guisely neither played (Shackleton, Klich, Clarke Baker and Roberts were the starters who got game time during season proper) 29 July 2018 Las Palmas Phillips and Viera played, Klich replaced Saiz at half time . (9 of starting selection played against Stoke, Viera and Dallas were the two that missed out) Obviously when the season proper started Forshaw was injured and thus didnt make the substitutes bench until the Millwall game on 15 September, in which he replaced Philips after 74 minutes. Forshaw remained on the substitutes bench for the next 7 games, replacing both Klich and Saiz 3 times each, and not being used in the remaining game. Of the 20 league games Forshaw started, Phillips started in 16 of them. Of the 11 substitute appearances made by Forshaw, he replaced Klich 5 time, Saiz 3 times, Philips twice and Roberts once. In the pre season friendlies Klich didnt start any games in which the majority of the first team squad started, and his first appearance in a game which had the first team squad line up was as a substitute in the Las Palmas game, in which Viera replaced Forshaw in the starting line up and Klich replaced Viera on the bench
Which is why I very rarely respond to any of his posts, but when a comment can be disproved with 5 minutes of google use then my mischievous side takes hold
Well done sir! I couldn't be bothered. I still maintain though that Klich played CB in one of these friendlies. I must concede, though, that I struggled with working out Bielsaball at first, & he could well have been playing in KP's position, drifting in & out of the back 2/3, as required. Pretty sure there was someone else completely unexpectedly did this in a pre season match too. Thinking on it, it might well have been Vieira.
