The team that finished for us today was close to the team I picked before kick off, the exception was Roberts, when is Bielsa going to tell him he is not good enough? Cooper had a very solid game at the back today, Llorente reading of a game is exceptional with his interceptions. I personally think that the sending off of Sturijk and the injury caused to the Liverpool player has effected the lad, his commitment seemed only 80% in tackles. Cannot make my mind up over James. Wolves are a disgrace as a PL outfit, unfit and delay tactics that infuriates people, there Capt Conner Coady is a **** house, heads a ball and faints being knocked out ffs. Best till last….Gerhardt will be very pleased with the 30 mins he got, I just hope Amigo throws him in there from the start next game. Fingers crossed on the Raphinha injury, but it didn’t look good, did he pull out of the tackle and the collision injured him??
Just read that Raphinha sent out a message on social media that he's fine & not to worry. James? We have a player called James? What's his surname & has he ever played for us before?
Keown on MOTD said Gelhardt’s runs through Wolves defence reminded him on Messi, imagine if he gets anywhere close to that.
I think my work is done because I and a couple more U23 watchers have raved about Joffy all last season. We knew he was special and have called for him to get a chance. Lets face it when people like Joe Royal advises him to join Bielsa at Leeds because he will hone him. When pundits have compared him to Rooney for years and now Messi, I think our fans can now see something special, so I can pipe down now and watch what happens. He wasnt a surprise to Wolves neither as Joffy destroyed their U23 team away and Bielsa was sat watching him, not long ago
The thing about Bielsa is that he needs proof, and has given some good prospects a chance, before sending them out on loan. I was a big fan of Niall Huggins but he sold him to Sunderland, Olly Casey Cresswells enforcer gone, Gotts, McCalmont, Stevens, Edmondson and a few more all had a chance but didnt take it. I think Bielsa says the first team players know who is good enough and those who are good enough force me to rethink. Cresswell, Summerville and Gelhardt have now broken through and it was Struijk who did it last. The fans wont stand for Joffy to be fotgotten now and in some respects it makes it harder for Roberts and I feel he will be gone in January. 93 games of nothing to remember against 30 minutes of Joffy yesterday all memorable and fans who were there watching him wont ever forget. Just like I never forgot Terry Connors debut goal at ER all those years ago
Remember that TC debut Doc and the Jamie Forrester one, really thought he was going to be our Ally McCoist, shame it didn't work out for the lad
Yes mate, called it in the week, MM one game away from the boot, needs to retire now, the game as passed him by.
A star was born yesterday, he played without fear and I thought he might even take the peno. But deligthted for Rodrigo and he put it away clinically. When we got the goal a shiver went up my spine and it honestly felt like a win. I don't know if we should play Gelhardt from the start in every game, but he should definately play against Norwich because I think we could take them.
That was much better yesterday, & to think we really have a proper striker who knows where the goal is, gives me hope, out of the depths of despair for the rest of the season.
Makes it even more important that Patrick will soon be available,as with his hold up play & being able to slot joffy in at the right moment fills me with excitement, they could if we play two up top, form a formidable partnership of course would need a major re think on strategy & formation from Marcello.
That's right Doc in all the excitement I'd forgotten about the cup game. Ideal game to play him in. Just hope we don't get anymore injuries. How the Wolves player wasn't sent off is beyond me.
You have to think about what Bielsa has done with Gelhardt in the last year, and that means playing him at 10 in almost half his games with Sam Greenwood playing 9 and visa versa, so Joffy is well versed in doing the Roberts job as well and still manages to score. I would start him against Arsenal and Norwich as Paddy not due back? I would be happy with Rodrigo starting up top as long as Rodrigo drops back like yesterday to allow Joffy to cause damage in the second half. A big plus could be that Joffy now trumps Roberts in the eyes of fans
