Wins a win. They looked a very good side but for all the danger they barely tested casilla. Bet bielsa’s not happy with how we hoofed the ball away second half... and didn’t seem to press like we usually do, conceding possession. Have to credit them for that, but second half was the First time in a long time i’ve seen our midfield outplayed. Didn’t seem to be the movement off the ball and composure on it. Anyway, nice to be talking about a game we didn’t dominate the whole game but won... as opposed to dominating and not winning.
Yup, we had all the better chance, they're a goo side but they never had any clear cut chances we could have had 3 or 4
If I was Nketiah I would be getting rather pissed off by now. Been out in the sodding rain playing football so only just catching up but what was theRoberts subbing scenario. Did he come and get injured?
Brought on at half time, subbed to bring on a defender (ayling) 25 mins later... when we were getting a bit of a chasing. Shackleton and cooper both off with muscle injuries.
No, tactical. Just watched the post match interview on Sky. Bielsa apologised to Roberts for subbing him but was for the needs of the team as the game developed. Agree with you about Eddie and think if it continues he'll be recalled by Arsenal in January.
I think the plan was Shackleton was going to be subbed and Ayling brought on but Shackleton picked up an injury and so was replaced at half time, like for like, by Roberts. With the last quarter of the match approaching Bielsa made his planned tactical move, attacking midfielder off and defender on.
he came on at half time for Shackleton (who had a very good game) as he was injured. Then got taken off at about 75 minutes for Ayling - we needed to tighten up.
Roberts came on for Shak at half time. Shak hurt his hamstring. Roberts straight in to no10 role. West Brom had more possession as the game wore on and it looked like we were going to have to hold on to the lead a bit so he took Roberts off and put Ayling on. Ayling went to RB and Dallas went to shore up the middle of the park. Right call imo. Roberts wasn't really in the game as it was West Brom pushing us back.
Ayling went into RB and Dallas CM as they started to run through it. Was surprised Roberts came on and not Nketiah myself.
