One comment to throw at you - I've got a feeling that Davis is being groomed to be the next White, rather than LB. A change of priorities, if you like. Thoughts?

 

It was more a 3-3-3-1 , yes McCalmont played that role but as we were constantly knocking it out wide the game seemed to pass him by. I think they bullied him too, a big strong physical side.

Davis could play either role imo, really like the look of him, confident on the ball, can tackle and head plus didn't let them bully him.

 

Thanks for that. Easy to see why Pearce had to go, when Davis is so hot to trot, eh?

Positives

Some of our younger players given an opportunity to shine.
Leif Davis, a mature head for someone so young. Better defender than Douglas & Alioski imo!
Three goals in as many games for Nketiah, loved his nutmeg on Butland for the goal, really unlucky with his curling shot in the first-half.
Costa's debut goal
Comeback from 0-2 down.
Three inspired substitutions.
Battered them 2nd half.
Forshaw & Phillips took total control of the midfield after the break
White was imperious as ever snubbing out the Stoke attacks
Harrison ran the Stoke defenders a merry dance down the left flank.
We didn't lose the game over the 90 minutes.
Superb penalties, Jack unlucky with his effort
The wonderful response to Jack Harrison from our fans when he must have wanted the ground to swallow him up, the Jack Harrison chant would have lifted the lad's spirits.

Negatives

Defensively we appeared fragile without a proper commanding CB in the middle in the first half.
How poor was Douglas ?
Was Jack Clarke on the pitch ? the £10m + fee is looking a steal
Kiko's poorest game this season, arguably should have saved both goals.
Both goals came in a period when the dodgy ref gave Stoke a handful of poor decisions.
Constant time-wasting by feigning injuries to disrupt our fluency from half-time onwards.
Had the game gone into extra-time we'd have beaten them as the Stoke players were out on their feet.

Morning WJ, don't you ever sleep? My excuse is that I've been coughing for the last few days(worse at night) and waking everyone up. Bronchitis cleared and for a week I thought great, getting sleep etc etc, but now this cough has come back, but no pain as with the last bout. Anyway back to the Docs today and hopefully she gets it sorted.

I do sleep, but usually go to bed about 5-6 in the morning. I like the peace. Usually get up at lunchtime, which saves me watching the ****e morning tv that seems to hypnotise Mrs WJ. Now if only Holly hadn't gone on that diet that took the boob out of Willoughbooby .....

 

back on the beer, but if given more anti biotics, I'll be back off it...

 

Check with the doc. You can drink with loads of antibiotics. A lot of it is urban myth. seen this, btw?

Nah, just broken by years of continuous, ever-changing shift work. Quite jealous of those who have a regular body clock. Not fun when you go to bed at 6 & the wife wakens you up 2 hours later to take her to an appointment you forgot about.
