I have to be honest, Doc. I thought it was Southampton's tactics & energy that killed a lot of the passes. Because we now play much more narrowly, it is easier to defend against us, They simply filled the limited spaces we had open to us when operating so narrowly. It was quite a clever game plan imo. It wasn't the only reason so many passes went awry, but it was happening for Southampton too, btw. A scrappy end-to-end game which I enjoyed watching. Not quite the watching through fingers games of old, or Bielsaball. For the neutral it must have been quite a lively game. Either team could have won.
I don't need to be at the game to know that James had a simple 10 yard pass to put Raphinha in on goal but decided to run in to three defenders on his own instead and lose the opportunity to kill the game. I don't need to be at the game to know that a Brazilian international that wants to play for the best teams in Europe should be hitting the target 18 yards out with a free shot at goal. I don't need to be at the game to know that Forshaw needs to have one touch instead of two or three when our whole system revolves around direct counter attacks.
Well anyone I spoke to at the match was (rightly) concerned by how badly Llorente played. He got himself into extreme difficulties near our goal on more than one occasion, either losing the ball, or thumping it out of play. All because he held on to the ball too long to make up his mind - every time. He was a liability & has been for a while. I hoped he would be better alongside Coops directing him, but there was little change. He's always played like that for us, & continues making seriously dangerous decisions with the ball at his feet near our goal.
Narrow? Second half raph used that wide area really well. Llorente maybe is lookung to play football it's his style. Maybe we need better in front of him.
What's all this nonsense about we're not good aerially. How many corners and crosses did we defend excellently without conceding ? Definitely a major plus from today. In other news we actually played quite well second half as we managed to change the momentum of the game and then have numerous dangerous attacking situations which unfortunately we couldn't capitalize from. Don't be so hard on the team as it was a well earned point.
… Well whenever it is we play them, we hope they’re sh*t. Think that’s the essence and something we can all agree on
It's a conspiracy so we'll have to play Man City, Chelsea & Arsenal all in the same week. Not announced yet but you heard it here first.
You need to up your game milky... Err, oops sorry, I mean you need to watch the game...think the re run is on Sky at 5am, can we have your full match report by 8-30 please.
Anyway I'm an 'ammers, bubble blowing cockernee today and maybe a bit of a North London Spurs supporter too.
To be honest I should have looked at the fixture listing more closely. The Leeds site did say that the match had been postponed.
